Only took me once. Accidentally bought a DVD in Full Screen - had to go back & exchange it.

Has never happened again. Most people probably need to get "burnt" once before learning their lesson

By the way, this DVD has an annoying problem - many scenes shake back & forth (horizontally) slightly, very apparent on a big screen.

out of all the titles I've purchased, I've never had this happen. I think people just get into a big hurry and start snaggin' copies off shelves without paying attention. I see it everyday while shopping and often, being the good guy that I am, I'll even ask the person who just grabbed a full screen if thats what he/she really wanted. 9 outta 10 times it's not what they want...they just didnt read anything but the title while walking away....

I always look at the back to ensure a movie is in widescreen. Especially with all of the fullscreen dual-releases lately, I am even more careful.

I now always take a look at the DVD in store. I once purchased Princess Diaries online and it was Full Screen. It's one of those films without markings. Too bad it was out of my hands to return it...

One Hour Photo has a sticker on the front in some stores...but in others, it does not...

I thought that the band saying the AR was odd being on the back like that. I look at everything I buy anyway though.

Picked up a used copy this wk...and after skipping thru several scenes I noticed a dozen or so shots that appeared very jerky, as if the camera were shaking - and they were shots when the camera was stationary. I was just wondering if it appears that way for others as well? Is this kind of thing a result of the DVD transfer? Doesn't ruin the film by any means, but it is a little hinderance.

For a specific example look at Ch 10, 1:31 (about a ten second shot when Gary Cole stands up and tells Sy to take some time off) Also several shots thru the scene where Sy is fired.

No problems with my copy.

And you resurrected a two year old thread about wide/full screen to ask this?

I guess it's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't thing... anyways.. I found part of a review that noticed the same thing:

"some scenes in the photo store look like the all-white background is giving the foreground objects a bit of a problem. It's difficult to describe, but it doesn't sit right onscreen and looks a little jerky at times. A scene just over an hour at the door of the Yorkin household is similarly affected."

Guess that answers my question... I wonder if certain DVD players handle it better than others?

Yep, my copy is the same way. A little herky jerky from time to time. It's a good thing you resurrected this thread. I had been wondering the same thing about my copy. Good to know it's a common thing.

Hmmmm...maybe I just never noticed it before? I was thinking about watching this again after I saw it on FX again last night. Anybody that seen these problems on their DVD player notice this on FX, if you watched it on TV?

Hopefully someone can help me out with this because it's been bothering me for a while. I remember seeing an advance screening for this film and the 'Requiem Overture' or maybe Summer or Winter Overture, one of those, by Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet, was playing over the part when the cops are chasing Williams' character. I never saw the movie again till I picked up the DVD and noticed the music is missing in this scene, anyone know what happened?

Chances are that that specific music wasn't supposed to be in the movie. It was "filler-music" for the studio or something like that, I assume. I, too, saw a screener back in the day, and noticed that music. Also, there was the music from American Beauty throughout the entire film (along with some Nine Inch Nails, too), which I don't think made it to the theatrical/DVD releases.
