as i said in other threads, i think we would've got this SE like this year or early next year but i don't think we will get it anytime soon because of the rumored "sequel".
White Jazz is hardly a sequel. Ed Exley is only a very minor supporting character in the book by James Ellroy, and none of the other characters in L.A. Confidential exist in the new story.

Hmm, true all that, but a film version of White Jazz cannot have Dudley Smith alive, since the film version had him killed off.
It wouldn't jive. |

There was also an episode of "Page to Screen" that used to air on Bravo that focused on L.A. Confidential. |
I think Kiefer Sutherland as Vincennes was a crucial mistake. Sutherland is no suave Dean Martin-wannabe.
Sutherland would have made a passable Bud White, only because Sutherland plays the tough villain very well. He may not be a muscle guy, but he can still sell "danger." |
All I've seen of the pilot are still photos and it does look strangely miscast. When I first heard of Kiefer playing Jack Vincennes, my reaction was "Wha??!" But I'm a fan of the film and the book, so the pilot remains a curiosity of mine so I'd like to see it included as a bonus. :)

any new info or if it comes out this year for the 10 year will we we hear info soon?
There are two sequels. Carnahan is making White Jazz, but meanwhile Curtis Hanson has expressed interest in making a direct sequel featuring Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe.
This and Cool Hand Luke are supposed to still be coming out this year. Got my fingers crossed.
Likewise. I've been holding off on both LA Confidential and Cool Hand Luke for the supposed 2-disc sets.
Yeah, disappointing we don't have an announcement for this one yet. Maybe they're holding off to see if the potential sequel goes ahead.
Is it safe to add this title to the "Possibly in 2008" wishlist??
that was an exceptional film...
an SE would be great... |
I've been holding off for years, so I can hold off a bit longer. :(
I've also been holding of on LA Confidental, waiting for the new release as you people are also.
ok with these new warner special editions, what are the chance we get a se of this movie?
it will come out...don't worry it will.whether later this year or when the different sequels hit cinemas...just don't keep replying to this thread when there is no real news.

Yea, we better get a lot more features than that. I hope we get a DTS track, too.
Everyone needs to stop posting in this thread until we have an official announcment.
