Trying to print DVD covers
Forgive me if this is in the wrong place.
I am trying to print up a replacement cover for a DVD I bought on eBay that came with no case (and no it was NOT a bootleg). I printed one out on cardstock and it printed just fine (I'm using dimensions of 272x182mm), I decided to try and print it out on semi-glossy paper because the cardstock one looks fake. But now every time I try to print it out, it's cut off on the right edge (the front part of the cover) and I can't figure out why. The glossy paper I got is the same size as the cardstock (8.5x11) so I have no clue why it's doing this.
P.S. I also tried doing a different cover putting it in the same dimensions and that one was cut off even worse, right in the middle of the front of the cover.

It might be helpful for us to know what your OS is and what software you are trying to print from, but it's probably something simple like the printer settings (paper size) or else the page format options in the software you're printing from.

Re: Trying to print DVD covers
Sorry. I'm running a Mac OS X 10.7.2
I'm using Gimp to reformat the image to the correct dimensions and then print from Preview since for whatever reason I can't print from Gimp.
Like I said when I printed on the cardstock it printed just fine, just now on the photo paper is it printing incorrectly.

Re: Trying to print DVD covers
Okay, so I printed (and then stopped it) on regular paper. Notice how the whole front cover is on the paper
And then I printed it again on the photo paper.
I did nothing different, just different paper. So it has to the be the paper, I don't understand why this is, but I'm wasting the expensive paper and my ink in the process.
Sorry those pics are so big, here are the direct links

Re: Trying to print DVD covers
I've been making and printing stuff like this for years, and most DVD covers need to be printed on legal paper, which is 8.5" x 14". Even machines with so-called "borderless" printing need a small amount of paper to grip beforehand, and without it, the image gets cut off.
My recommendations would be to first use Photoshop for printing, or if you don't have it, go to a place like FedEx Office which does. You may also need to rotate the whole image 90 degrees first, depending on individual computer settings. I've measured the standard multi-disc cases many times, and here's the sizing results; don't let anyone tell you different.
"Amaray" 1 to 4 Disc DVD Case
10 & 7/8" x 7 & 1/4"
