Who hates the eco cases?

I have multiple dvd's packaged in those stupid eco cases. How could anybody like them? They're flimsy and they seem to barely protect your disc. I have some titles that might be crushed because of those stupid cases. If they really wanted to save plastic, why didn't they switch to slim cases. They save space and they have most likely have less plastic. My question, who likes eco cases? What do you think would be a better alternative to them?

I hate them too. I return a lot more DVD's to Amazon now because the covers are frequently punctured. It's a phony move by the studios to save money on materials and transportation costs under the guise of being green.

Re: Who hates the eco cases?

If it's something I'm keeping, I generally replace the case. I swap them out every chance I get when I sell them on or to Amazon. They go to Best Buy for trades. So I guess they're not saving any plastic with me. It's like, they're going on my shelf, not into a landfill. It would be nice if there was a happy medium, like the slim cases.

I don't like them, but I guess it saves plastic so I'll put up with them.

They're still a step up from those damn snapper cases.

I honestly don't mind the snapper cases. They still protected the disc, but the eco cases make me afraid of putting them on the shelf.

Re: Who hates the eco cases?

Just in case you're wondering why you're getting so few answers to your question, it's because most of us have already discussed this in SEVERAL other threads over the course of the past 2 or 3 years. I believe we all hate them and many people replace them with standard cases.

If you want to search for "eco-cases" on DVDtalk, the search tool is pretty unfriendly, but you can use Google and enter the search like this:

site:forum.dvdtalk.com eco-cases

you can search any specific site in this manner.

The eco cases suck, big-time. Anyone who thinks the studios use them to help the environment is delusional.

I would rather have a cardboard sleeve than an Eco-Case!

I replace all Eco-Cases and toss 'em into a landfill.

I would like to see the numbers of how much money these companies have saved after switching to these cases.

Re: Who hates the eco cases?

I have precious few regular cases to swap out but whenever I feel like I've purchased something special to me I'll replace the eco case with one of the good ones. I have to figure out where I can get more of the regular cases, even some of the 2-disc cases without spending a whole bunch of money. Still, I prefer the eco cases to the cardboard snappers, and I hate the crap they used for movies like There Will Be Blood and the newer Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, those are even worse than snappers.

In this time of peace on earth and goodwill to men, I'd like to wish the sonofabitch(es) who developed eco-cases die choking on eggnog. Thank you. Back to your forum.
