Dragonslayer 2003 vs 2007 ?
Does anyone here own own either the 2003 release of Dragonslayer (with the original movie poster art and "Widescreen Collection" banner) or the 2007 re-release (with what looks like a partly photographic cover and the "When Dragons Were Real" subtitle)? Not the "I love the 80's version. I've learned from experience that Paramount is notoriously cheap when it comes to packaging just about anything but first-printing, new release, movies. I want to buy a copy of this film and am curious if the 2003 release includes a chapter stop insert, if the 2007 release is a picture disk...that sort of thing. Any help? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I bought copies of both editions but left them unopened for a few days, still not sure if I should take a chance on the more expensive original artwork edition or return it and be happy with the "When Dragons Were Real" version. In the end, I opened the original artwork edition...and found a 1-color non picture disk copyright 2006, and no insert. So Paramount screwed me yet again.
I would bet any money the 2007 re-release is equally no-frills.

Sorry you didn't get the insert. My copy (purchased in 2005) does have pictures on the disc, but I know virtually all recent pressings of Paramount titles (2006 onward) use those simple grey labels.

I have the original movie poster version. As far as I know, the discs themselves are the same, it's just the cover that's different. The newer version's front is just the back of the original dvd's cover. I don't know what the newer version's back cover looks like.
