Case won't fully shut. Are my DVDs at risk?

I bought a DVD today which is 5 discs but in a regular sized DVD case. The bottom clasp or snap or whatever you want to call it closes just fine, but the top one is broken and therefore the top of the case doesn't close. I know I could return the DVD and get one with a case that is ok, but I honestly don't feel like going back to the store, unless the safety of the discs is at risk. What I've done is used a rubber band on the top to keep it closed. It doesn't close airtight, but it's not hanging open. Would the discs be at risk if dust gets in there?

Sounds fine to me. Will it be on a shelf with other DVDs around it? If so it's fine, I have a few DVD cases where the top or bottom won't close and never had any problems.

I don't see why it would create a problem. You can always pick up a replacement case on the cheap if you're really worried.

Are you planning on storing it underwater?

Disc-eating bugs might get to them. I would be terrified, but that's just me.
