So before watching season 5 of lost, i glanced at the photos on the dvd packaging. On one of the inside folds i see a photo of Those that watch lost know that's a huge spoiler for season 5. Whoever designed the set for s4 should get fired

Has there been a movie or tv show on dvd that had a spoiler for you?

Buffy Season 1 is notorious for this. Whenever you select an episode to play, the DVD plays a line of dialogue from the episode. Invariably, they choose the most spoilerific line of dialogue to play.

Original release of Planet of the Apes for the win.

Wasn't a spoiler for me, but the cover of the original Planet Of The Apes DVD is pretty indefensible IMO:

The little booklet in the Six Feet Under complete series I bought last week has been taped shut with a note on it for my wife that says, "DO NOT READ THIS."

The back cover of 24: Season 2 completely spoils the end of Season 1.

I used to really dislike when early lions gate and trimark dvds would have the chapter listing on the back of the case.

The back of every season of "24" spoils the season before it.

not only is this awful looking (why not just use the original art?!) but it spoils the movie bigtime:

Godzilla: Final Wars' cover reveals a monster that was supposed to be a surprise.

Anchor Bay's release of Grand Slam (Ad Ogni Costo) makes a point of mentioning on the cover that the movie has "one of the best twist endings of the 1960s," and then spoils the shit out of the ending with the picture chosen for the chapter insert.

There was that Hancock special edition DVD that gives away a major plot twist on the front cover.

I also think the DVD art/menus for Audition have all been a little bit too spoilery. The worst offender was the version Lion's Gate put out.

It's probably less spoiler-y now considering where the US series is now, but it's pretty annoying back when it was released.

So I assume that none of you ever watch Trailers for anything then, right?!

If you're talking movie trailers, there's probably a thread over in Movie Talk about spoilers in trailers.

People reading back covers should not be upset if they get things spoiled for them, including previous seasons. If you haven't seen season 1, why read the back of season 2?

Merchant-Ivory's DVD of "The White Countess"

on the back description, it even says "In the end...." and they actually print the ending of the film!

The Alias Season Two DVD set has a forced trailer on disc one for the third season that rattles off every single plot twist in season two.

Paramount's 2005 issue of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance identifies the actor who "plays the man of the title." Which would be fine, if the identity of that character wasn't the big reveal of the film!

At least Paramount fixed that when they issued the 2-disc version.

This is a pet hate of mine.
