LOTS of covers to print (help!)

I have a huge amount of loose dvds that I need to print covers for. I was wondering if someone could advise me on a good printer for the job. I'm not too concerned about the price of the printer itself. The major factors that I want in the printer are:
Excellent printing quality (down to the text on the cover)
Keeping the price of printer ink down to a minimum.
Printing speed (doesn't need to be blazing fast, although it wouldn't hurt).

If someone can advise me on this, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

chase

Hey just came across your question. Probably too late but I would recommend an Epson RX680. It prints beautiful covers and also prints directly onto dvd's.

Re: LOTS of covers to print (help!)

I've been looking for a printer that can do direct CD/DVD printing too. From much searching and reviews it appears that HP's Photosmart D7560 Printer

Can't link since I haven't posted enough yet, sorry.

I'm getting ready to buy it now but I'm looking for a good third party label app since reviews say the HP software is weak in options.

Placing labels on the discs is supposed to be a bad idea. It makes the disc spin unevenly and makes it non readable.

That's why he said he's looking for a printer that can do direct cd/dvd printing. Meaning print directly on printable cds/dvds rather than printing a label and sticking it on.

lightscribe is pretty good when you download the original disc art and print it on the disc. only black but cheaper than printer ink.

Re: LOTS of covers to print (help!)

Well, I received my new printer and the default software from HP doesn't work well for direct printing on DVDs or CDs. I found out on Amazon review of HP D7560 that SureThing CD Labeler v5 works great with it, so I download the 15 day trial. It worked so well, I bought it at the end of the day, highly recommended! Oh, I'm using Vista 64 Home Premium too.

Also, I don't print the entire DVD like a commercial one. Instead I print the DVD box cover art on the side of the dvd and the other text of the details (i.e. Date, Rating, & running time). This way I use less ink and and I like seeing the box art too.

Re: LOTS of covers to print (help!)

to the original poster, color laser printers have really come down in price and can put or copy a really nice quality cover. can't print directly onto cd's though.

forgot to mention some possible model numbers to consider:
- Brother HL-4040CN
- Samsung clp-315W

I've had good luck with both these printer brands, but only Brother with the color printing.
