Sweet Jesus!

Damn...why can't the release all four films in steelbook (yeah i know about the trilogy from Futureshop, but it'd be sweet to have all four in one collection, or even seperate like the Die Hard steels)

So the steelbook only edition won't be an exclusive, but it won't be widely availabe either? Is there a reason for this?

I'm not sure. The original solicitation was unclear. It became more clear over the last couple weeks. The only release (Vol.4 2-Disc Steelbook without the artbook) that is for certain will be the ones that get released in TWEC - B&M stores. This can possibly change if online retailers are still showing incorrect listings.

To make it a bit closer to Bestbuy's $22.99 US price, order it with instore picked at mid-night or in the early morning during FS Customer Appreciation Sale for 10% off ($26.99 CDN)..

Though, I'm probably still going to get it from Bestbuy as I'm going to be there next week and get RZ points..

Has the person who's taking over for speedy's Bestbuy post confirmed in their flyer shows the same steelbook image? Most likely it's the same, but just wondering..

10% off does not equal $10 off.

johnsun 08-15-08 09:01 PM

Oh, isn't the regular verson $19.99 and the steelbook $22.99 at Bestbuy? Even if it's not on par with US prices, I'm sure anyone who doesn't have ready access to the US won't mind saving as much as possible..

johnsun, thanks for the heads up on the online 10% off ($3.00) with instore pickup.

Two thumbs up.

I may have missed it but is the US getting a SteelBook as well?

I asked iNCREDiPiNOY who posted the Bestbuy ad thread this week for speedy and this was this answer. Yes, it's a Bestbuy US exclusive and as expected, looks the same as the Futureshop one..

Though, historically, has Bestbuy US charged any more for their steelbook exclusives (as the regular edition is $19.99 on-line right now)? I don't have any prices on me, but I seem to remember Futureshop adding afew extra dollars between the regular release and steelbook.. I think when 10,000 BC was out at FYE, the steelbook version was more expensive than the regular edition..

Correct me if I am wrong, but 10,000 BC was $22.99 for the steelbook, however some stores charged $19.99 and it became a YMMV experience. FYE does seem to charge more for steelbooks over regular editions, but some stores don't follow that. Same deal with getting $2 off coupons when you reserve; I've never been able to use the $2 off on any of steelbook pickups on release date, but others have been able to .. another YMMV.

As for Best Buy, they seem to fluctuate depending on the title.

I would say DD will be the cheapest at the moment. They have it @ $24.57, which is about 39% off the retail price.

howwon 08-16-08 12:12 PM

I have it saved to my wish list at DD. I'm going to wait for the 20% sale and get it for $19.66.

Did anyone notice that Best Buy states 'minimum' of only 2 per store on the Sarah Connor Chronicles steelbook? Sounds like there may be a shortage of them come tomorrow. I had a feeling they would be in short supply as BB's price is extremely cheap for the set, especially with a steelbook!

This would be a first in SteelBook history. 2 SteelBooks per store.
Why even bother producing them?

Two thumbs down. :down::down:

So do you think that was a misprint or that it is really going to be that rare?

I would hazard to guess that it is a misprint. Maybe they meant to print minimum 20 per store, which would be in line with Future Shop's inventory, on release day.

minimum 2 per store could also mean maximum of 100.

Well, that's stretching it a bit. I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow and see what happens.

Any Best Buy USA employees out there, want to chime in and offer any comments?

yeah, i was just joking on that.

kstublen 08-18-08 07:27 PM

I'm tempted to order it off BestBuy.Com, because the price now says $22.99 whereas it said a couple days ago $19.99, and I imagine that is to reflect the Steelbook packaging, although I could be wrong.

but, the link is not specifically for the SteelBook, so how do you know what version?
