It does seem odd that they would release a 2 disc steelbook to all stores in Canada, but in the US only release a 1 disc steelbook at one store only.

The 3-Disc Steelbook from Best Buy Canada is the best deal, so far.

Not sure of what other major retailers would be able to get a better exclusive.. HMV has been known to get some Target exclusives.. Amazon doesn't seem to be offering anything.. Only other retailers I can think of is Visions and A&B Sound, and I don't consider them big enough retailers to command an exclusive..

Speaking of 10,000 BC, I'll be in the US on Tues and was going to get the FYE version.. Has anyone confirmed the FYE price? I was thinking it would be $14.99-$16.99 with maybe a $5 MIR..

** I called the FYE I go to and they think it's going to be around $24, think I'm going to pass on that price and buy local..

I'm rethinking that now that Bestbuy Canada will get a 3 disc exclusive.. I see that some collection pics have both the US and Canadian steelbooks (Transformers, Beowulf, Cloverfield).. Any reasons for that? Was it accidental, like you already made a deal with someone in the US and was it was annouced in Canada, you got it for the heck of it?

The only one I might consider double dipping is the Beowulf version because it had French under the Title..

Are we sure that the Best Buy exclusive 3-Disc or 2-Disc is a steelbook? I checked on Best Buy.ca and it looks to me that it's a slipcover. I don't see anywhere online stating Steelbook. We all know FYE has a 1-Disc steelbook, but I would like to know if the BB.ca is a steelbook, than of course, I would be wanting that version on this release. I have to get my friend who is from Canada to help me out, but I need to tell him in advance before Tuesday's release. He has to get with his family to pick it up for me--nice guy.

Sorry were you able to obtain an advance copy of the FYE steelbook? I dont know (contrary to what you state "we all know") that it was a 1disc steelbook?

We, as in us..here in the forum..I have seen the signs at FYE and they state a steelbook, but only 1-disc. I also read in the fye thread that DB has confirmed it and what I read he seems to work there. Hope that clears it up for you Xage..

scott1598 has already confirmed this.

3. "10,000 BC"...will be a National S.E in Canada - 2 disc and Transworld Single disc.
Canadian copies will be a 2-Disc Steelbook.
Best Buy Canada will have the same Steelbook + the exclusive bonus disc.

Thanks for the info. I basically thought it was 2-disc..

I know scott posted confirmation that it'll be a 1 disc.. Though, when I called to ask about the pricing, they were looking it up on the computer and quoted a $39.99 retail price and sale price of $24.XX.. I know no one pays retail prices for DVDs, but can a 1 disc retail for that much?

In case I got someone that read out the incorrect information, can anyone check with their TWEC store?

Best Buy US is saying they are going to have a 2 disc exclusive of 10,000 BC, but there is no picture available. I'm willing to bet it will be in steelbook, probably the same one Best Buy Canada is going to have. They did a 3 disc set with the Grindhouse Steelbooks here, and something a little different for Canada. I also seem to remember that I never saw the I Am Legend Steelbook on-line, but they were at all the stores come release day. It'll be interesting come Tuesday the 24th. It is odd that no one has any information on what Best Buy US is going to have.

I'm wondering if FYE is going to have the same steelbook or if it'll be a different cover. I know Die Hard has two steelbooks, but they came out at different times. I don't think there has been a new release (R1) with two different steelbook covers, aside from the ones in Canada with French on them (Beowulf).

I saw the Best Buy ad. The US Best Buy 2 disc exclusive has a cover that no other store has to my knowledge (The poster featuring the Wooly Mammoth) and the ad doesn't mention it being a steelbook, nor does it look like one. Rather it seems like it will be a slipcover. Unfortunately I cannot make out what the special features on the bonus disc are.

There seems to be only 1 steelbook cover for the DVD in North America, the orange tinted one with the sabretooth tiger on it.

Visions blows big time, in my opinion. They used to advertise new releases at below cost. The problem is that no one has ever been able to get one of these, below cost, DVDs.

There used to be two A&B Sound stores in my city and they had HOT prices on their new releases. They also had really good weekend sales. First, the downtown Flagship store closed, followed by their second location. The parent company eventually went bankrupt and was bought out. I think they only operate now in BC and Alberta.

The only other company that can compete with Future Shop and BB Canada, with respect to DVD volume, is Wal-Mart Canada. When the Simpsons movie was released, Wal-Mart Canada had the best exclusive with the miniature figurines and they sold out in the first day. I'll check out Wal-Mart on Tuesday and post if they have anything of interest.

Willo007, it's not that I wasn't doubting you guys, I just haven't seen the ad. Thanks for the link. I guess I won't be picking up a Steelbook from Best Buy on Tuesday. It is odd that Best Buy is not going to release the Steelbook in the US. Haven't they always released their steelbooks both here and in Canada? I was just being hopeful that's all. I remember looking on Bestbuy.com for I Am Legend, and I never saw the Steelbook on-line. I was hoping it would still show up in the stores. I do remember seeing the I Am Legend Steelbook in the ad, so there goes my theory. I might take a stab at the FYE one, but if it's a single disc, I may just hold off and hunt for a BB Canada one when the price falls on it. I heard this movie got bad reviews, but I am hoping the visuals for the movie will be enough to warrant a purchase. That, and I'm a sucker for sabretooths.

Edit: I should have known you guys were on the ball with the Steelbook releases. Silly me. I'll remember next time.

No problem, now you made me feel bad, but in the other hand, I personally don't know if the FYE steelbook is going to be a 2 disc. I hope it is, since I pre ordered there too.

So, lets hope. :D

FYE only has a 1-disc and is the only place in US for SB. BB Canada and Futureshop are the other guys having SteelBooks, those are 2-discs, both in Canada. BB Ca is adding a bonus disc which most likely is just a separate disc attached to the case.
guys, the posts has been stated numerous times. there is no need to get yourselves worked up or wonder what is and isn't. i have very reliable info. that was posted.
