tv/movie box sets - best packaging/design?

What are the best/most unique designs of movie/tv box sets you either own or have seen on Region 1?

The Blind Dead collection has its awesome coffin-shaped box.

I love the 24 collection in Brazil. It's a bomb. How much fun you would have when it's shipped to you.

Some of my favorite Region 1 releases would be:

Pinky Violence Collection - Pink Vinyl Custom Case
Yakuza Papers Tin
Mash Martinis and Medicine set (if it weren't for the cardboard slips that house the discs)
Schindler's List Gift Set (when you can receive one that isn't cracked)
The full season releases of Friends are pretty classy (though not interested in the content)

By the way, Keith .. the OP is strictly talking about region 1 releases, not imports. If he were, I'd have a lot longer list myself.

Oh....That's freaking cool. I doubt that would ever see the light of day around these parts.

I always liked the curb sets. Of course the various bust/storage head sets like the ape, alien, i-robot and predator ones. Liked the region 2 phantasm set and the hellraiser one as well.

Schindler's List Gift Set (when you can receive one that isn't cracked)
LOL...Amen.

I love all of HBO's designs, including Deadwood, Six Feet Under (complete collection is beauty!) down to the simple boxes like Oz, Sopranos, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

"Hawaii Five-O" has kept an excellent packaging theme going throughout the 7 seasons that have been released of it. Season 1 had 4 slimcases for 7 discs, but the remaining ones have had 6 discs apiece, in 3 slimcases apiece (2 discs per case).

I agree. I recently purchased Rome - The Complete Series and the packaging is fantastic.

Re: tv/movie box sets - best packaging/design?

I just received my copy of "Marcus Welby" yesterday, and I have to agree with the glowing reviews given to the packaging; from the episode guide (branded with the clever name "Family Practice and General Medicine: An Introductory Guide"), to the disc art (different colors for each label, and each disc has a Red Cross on the top, disc no. on the left, and a shot of one or more of the major players on the right, and the release branding on the bottom), to the format of the episode guide (copious pictures, and episode listings on replicas of prescription paper), and everything in between, the people who packaged this release (Post Positive, I believe they're called) deserve high marks in that respect. Another nifty feature of this is that the pilot has the original Universal logo at the beginning.

I like the Ultimate Matrix set, though I would've had the discs in slimcases instead of the cardboard ones. And I absolutely love Terminator 2 skull box set. Great set. They should a complete set (all the dvd/blu-ray versions of the film) like that for the first Terminator. Since the second movie is in a skull, they could put the first movie in a box shaped like the memory chip from a Terminator. Like what's seen in the second movie. A chip or maybe a hand like in the second movie.
