Repair of broken prongs

As with CD cases, many custom DVD cases have the clear, brittle plastic prongs that break easily. Is there some kind of repair options out there? I figured that I could cut (drill, burn, chip) out the round prong ring from a std clear CD case, break the remaining prongs on the broken one and glue the new one over the old ones. Sound plausable, alternatives?

Someone must be selling something like that already, right? Thx, Larbo

It won't hold up to repeated use if you glue it. Just buy a new case.

I would gladly do so but my major concerns are the custom packages that cannot be replaced. I am now looking at my Predator DVD with its custom digipak type case. No choice but to fix it somehow.

Thanks. Larbo

You can buy replacement trays from some sites. Just google "digi-tray" and see what you come up with. Genesys DTP sells them, but you'd have to call them up to see if you can get a smaller quantity since they only offer 300-packs for $66 on the website.

Hi, thanks for the kick start. I changed the search from "digi-tray" to "cd hub" and there are a lot of options. Most are designed for marketing purposes such as adding a CD or DVD to a brochure but some could work as a repair option. For example:

But your right that small quantities is an issue. Thanks again, Larbo

I also have a need to replace one of my broken trays. I looked around and found that on ebay (search word 'digi-tray') someone is selling 100 of those trays for $35 (after adding shipping charge). I already sent the seller a question asking him if he sells the trays in smaller quantity. If not, I was thinking maybe if other people here are also looking for trays, we could split the cost or something.

I would be interested in a few (5-6) of the digi trays. If you do purchase the ones on ebay email me.

Thanks

Randy

I contacted the ebay seller who sells the digi-trays in bulk of 100. I told him my situation that I just need one to replace my broken tray. He told me I can buy 2 of the trays for $3. So I agreed.

Maybe you can try contacting him and describe your situation why you only need to buy a few trays.

On the other hand, I think if someone buy those trays in bulk, I have a feeling they can probably sell them in smaller quantity here and make some money back.

This is for anyone who is still interested in getting digi-trays...

I got a reply from a different ebay seller who has a web site that you can order the digi-trays in smaller quantity:

http://www.squaredealonline.com/a.asp?s=nBpg

This seller also stated that he can create an ebay listing with the smaller quantity if you prefer to buy it through ebay. Send me an email if you want his email address to contact him about it.

"Did someone say broken prong?"

Sorry. I feel so dirty, now.
