Princess Bride custom?
Just wondering if anyone has done a custom cover for The Princess Bride featuring the movie poster art? There was a great poster used for this movie which showed the silhouette of Peter Falk reading to Fred Savage, and the silhouetted Westley and Buttercup behind them - it'd make a great DVD cover. I've had a look round the various sites, and I've only been able to find scans of the dreadful official cover.
Thanks in advance!

Anyone prefer this cover? I believe this is the German poster art. Kind of cool. I like that it has the R.O.U.S's on the front.

Buddy,
First of all, thanks for the link! That cover sure will look nice on my DVD. That German poster art version is great, too - I'd never seen that poster art before. (Although they do make it look like Westley is holding a lightsaber!
) The only reservation I have is that the logo gets kind of lost at the bottom - then again, not sure where it would go, ideally, so...
Thanks again!

Updated. Added text to the back. Could I lag anymore?? Anyhoo, also added Wesley and Buttercup silhouette to the front image, image stills to the back, and a new spine. No special features box on the back. Where the heck to I put it? Or is it ok without it?

]. Doing that would free up enough space for a specs box..Perhaps you could also shrink the credits a bit..?

Thanks Dark-Helmet.
So I downsized the text on the back to make room for a special features box. Got rid of the quotes from the text for the Roguester. Now I just need to type in the text. How does the back look? Does the features box look alright? Is the text too small? Appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

What about putting the credits OVER the images of the boat and rocks? It just looks too squished or something the current way. From the first preview with text, have the synopsis end where it did, and have the special features box where the credits were. Also, maybe find a better synopsis of the movie that actually tells more of what the movie is about. Maybe something like this:
A grandfather reads a story to his grandson about a beautiful young woman named Buttercup, who is kidnapped and held against her will in order to marry the detestable Prince Humperdinck. Her childhood sweetheart, Westley, embarks on a journey to save her.
OR, if you want to keep that "F" there...
Far away and long ago, there lived the beautiful Buttercup and her "one true love" Wesley. With a final kiss goodbye and a vow that he will one day return, Wesley leaves to seek his fortune. But when news arrives that he's been lost at sea, an evil prince seizes the opportunity to arrange his own betrothal to Buttercup. Things certainly do look bleak for the poor, unwilling bride-to-be... but before she can say, "I do," the courageous Wesley triumphantly returns to battle wizards, warriors, pirates, poisons, giants and giant egos to come to her rescue!
I'd probably also put the UPC in the usual place at the top right corner. Looks like there is some black space there anyway. Other than that, I love this cover! Now I just need to upgrade the disc from the old non-special edition one!

Beautiful! I think you have it pretty much perfect. Just noticed a couple of things though .. you should probably get rid of the word "new" on the front, (making it just "A Film by Rob Reiner") add an MGM logo to the back, and maybe shrink the credits down a bit so you can see more of the top of the boat.

Princess bride cover
Hey BuddyR,
It looks great!! I agree totally w/ marioxb: Once u remove "new" on front, shink credits on back to see TOP of the boat and put MGM logo on back...it will be PERFECT. I definitely would like this cover once it's done.

Thanks bishop! Ok, added an MGM logo to the special features box. "New Film by..." Now reads "A Film By Rob Reiner". Thanks marioxb. Good catch.
Is this what you two meant by the credits? The top of the ship is more visible now. Let me know. Thanks again you two.

Gotta say....I don't like it.
The back is now way too "busy" and covers up the great scene on the back cover.
edit: here's a quick something I threw together using the pic you posted. well, the one before the UPC floated to the top
. The text on the back could still be shrunk, as well as the Special Features box.

Hmm. I would love to save the bottom image, but doing so makes the whole thing look too blank. And I know covering the image with text can be bothersome, but what other options are there? Thanks Rogue.
Anyone else with a suggestion?

I'd probably go with something like this. I think it should make everyone happy. Of course don't actually use what I typed on the bottom of the picture, use the credits you have, or maybe even re-type them in a different font that would look better in that postion.
