Michael Corvin has made some outstanding covers:

They're designed for 6 eps per disc, not 7.

I'm curious. I notice people are creating DVDs with as many as 6 or 7 episodes per disc. Now 6 45 minutes shows (if you delete commercials) would mean crappy quality on even a studio produced DVD, so what are the shows looking like that you guys are creating at home. Also, do you record them on a set-top DVD recorder or are u importing them into your computer and burning them that way. Are you using dual-layer discs? Even with dual layer discs, studios generally only put four hour long shows per disc. Just wondering what kind of quality you're ending up with.

In the end, since these are copies you're making for only your own use, whatever floats your boat makes no difference to me, but I can't imagine discs that compressed looking very good on a large screen.

I watch on a 57" Widescreen HDTV, so 6 episodes per disc is a big
. The covers are for 3 per disc, each cover is for a two disc thinpak(6 ep. per case on two discs).

yeah man I have been doing 4 per disk; on my widescreen they look acceptable, but going to 3 per disk would probably be the best bet if you are just starting to make them. Especially since you can use Corvin's covers.

Yeah, you just have to figure the studio does 4 eps. on a dual layer disc. If you are putting that on a single layer, you are cutting the quality in half.

It would be cool to record these to a hard disk recorder, then copy them firewire to a mini-DV tape, import them into the computer, delete your commercials, place chapter stops where commercials would fall, perhaps a motion menu and burn to dual layer DVDs. That would be a lot of work, I know, but it would sure look sweet. Of course by the time you get them all done, the official DVD release will be here and much better than what you could create on your own. Oh well . . .

For those interested in snagging these covers I have done a first. I put them up on the newsgroup:
alt.binaries.dvd-covers
I don't like to do that, b/c then they get passed around like a cheap whore and the artist gets lost in the frey. But since these are for "unofficial" discs, and so many people want them, I figured what the hell. I have to re-do them for the official release anyway.
So now there are a few ways to obtain them. Enjoy!
