Some Questions About Printing Out DVD Covers

I'm new to this, and pretty much DVD Collecting (been collecting for about 2-3 months now, up to 46). Anyways, I was wondering what kind of paper you should print a cover on, if you should have a certain type of printer (I have a shitty Lexmark Z12), and if when you save them, are they the right size to fit a normal dvd case? LMK, and if im missing anything else i need to know about printing dvd cases, PLMK also, thnx,

I use the Kodak Anytime Semi-gloss paper that walmart sells. I print them out on an HP 7760, at the medium setting. Good enough for me, as the only covers I print out anymore are for movies I capture off digital cable. Movies that I really won't watch all that often, but I enjoy them enough to add them to the shelf.

I have an Epson, and found that certain papers stay sticky for a while. Epson papers dry quickly, as do NEC papers. The NEC glossy paper sells for about $14.00 US at K-Mart for 60 sheets. They also have a smaller package for $6.99 US for 20 sheets... A decent, cheap alternative to Epson papers...

I go to Costco for paper, they always have a 100 pack of glossy paper for around $20. As for what type of printer, the best bet is one that will print borderless- it will let you print the size you need without chopping the edges off - roughly 10.8 x 7.2. An epson R200 or R300 comes to mind, plus they can print on a Cd/DVD directly if you so choose. Costco had those for awhile, they're cheap at $99- $139. You'll need a photo editing program like photoshop to make your own customs. You can find premade templates here and there.

Well..I have the luxury of having a Phaser 7300 which is a kickbut color laser printer. Just printing on regular paper is great as the laser gives it a glossy look anyways. Mt collection has grown over the years .So the cheaper I can do it the better.....The printer I use is at work, so it's not bad one at a time....Nowdays my movies consist mostly of Barbie, Disney and Elmo....And those covers are pretty much chewed up..hehe

firebat, i'm assuming you are referring to *copying* dvds (hence the comment about netflix) and having 1500 dvds...such talk about illegal activities is frowned upon here. most people come here for custom covers as they are not satisfied with the originals, or the originals have been damaged or lost (such is the case with several of my covers, as my 2 year old has ripped em to shreds!)
