Shrek 2 DVD - No insert?

Did any get an insert in their Shrek 2 DVD? If not, what a downer. Only 1 disc and no insert for a movie this large.

Maybe studio's are realizing what a waste of money and paper inserts are.

There's no insert, just coupons.

I totally agree with you on this one. I don't think I've ever even looked at an insert, save when I actually open the dvd.

Yet they continue to make stupid slipcovers of the same case cover.

The slipcovers are nice! Much rather have a slipcover than an insert.

Personally, I think every DVD should have an insert - I use them for the chapter stops, and the package just looks cheap without them.

I'm not saying I need a booklet (although some of them have good production notes), but at least throw in a copy of the cover and the chapter listing.

Seriously, how much money can they possibly save by not putting in a piece of colored paper? PLEASE.

Booklets are always nice (like the one in CLERKS X or for a TV series like the WB does with their releases - SMALLVILLE, THE OC, etc.), but inserts are a waste of time. That's probably why fewer and fewer new releases have them.

Yeah, DreamWorks hasn't been doing inserts for a while. I personally like inserts, as it's weird just seing a DVD in there and than on the other side of the case the room for a booklet but with nothing there.

How is the Shrek 2 DVD, by the way? I've seen no online reviews for it.

Yep I agree. The insert subculture on dvd forums truely fascinates me.

They really got cheap on this release compared to the first DVD release of the first Shrek. 2 disks, DTS, the works!

Shrek 2 almost isn't worthy of going next to my first one.

I don't think they ever did it for Shrek 1 so why 2. Could be wrong.

Sorry what I meant that they did not have a re-release of this one. You are correct though that they pretty much did not since the first release was so good.

I gotta tell ya...I'm sure relieved that my disc wasn't in the shape I feared when I bought it.

I have a habit (as I'm sure a lot of people do) of lightly shaking the case to make sure the disc hasn't slipped out of it's holder and is flying around inside getting scratched up. I shook Shrek 2 and heard a very distinct loose shaking sound. I continued to shake all the copies they had, and got the same loose sound. I went ahead and bought one, and opened it on the way out the door of the store, and found it was only the stupid coupons. Whew!

Did anyone else think their disc had slipped loose?

Just my opinion, but I don't an S.E. happening. Shrek 2 is loaded with extras, picture & sound are near perfect. What else could they add of value? OK - DTS would have been nice..but after that? The extra "Songs" disc Walmart is offering? I am pretty happy with this disc (Would have liked an insert..) Personally, I won't buy it again unless there is something Really substantial we are missing. I fully expect them to release another Shrek Boxset after Shrek 3 comes out, probably with a Disc of nothing but extras from the series. Just my .02.

I shook 3 and then remembered that fumanstan said there were only coupons so I stopped shaking and started buying.

It ain't about extras, it's about marketing.

"Shrek 2 - now with insert!"

Dreamworks is an extension of Universal so unfortunately no insert. But at least we get free M&M Minis

I could personally care less if this DVD has an insert inside of it. The only real reason why we may seem to care is because we've been spoiled with inserts being in 90% of the dvd's that we buy. But the insert is usually pointless. Nobody cares about the dvd's track listing, it's not like we're going to throw in the movie one day just to watch one chapter like you would listen to one song on a music cd. And most of the time the picture inside is the same as the outer case cover. The movie is quality, the sound is quality, the video is quality, and it's got extras. Personally, having a great quality movie is good enough for me. Inserts and extras don't impress me most of the time. That's exactly what they are to me when I buy a DVD.... extras. I could take them or leave them. And out of those extras, the insert is something I don't mind leaving behind.
