Some of the gollum statue's have washed out color's. Mine is like that so some look like crap. I saw some in the store and the color was much better on them. Also the disc for TTT is nothing more then an ad. It shows some of the other statues wata has done for LOTR. So that gift set is a skip unless you must own the best. The first set is great and comes with a nice extra disc. It's a disc that if you buy by itself sells for $15. It's a nice disc about token and this is what I love about it. It talks about where token got some ideas for LOTR.
I know some geeks hate to say it but get this token did rip off some story idea's from other stuff. Gandulf was based allot of some Norse(SP) story's. Most of the time geeks are saying how people are ripping or copying token it's nice to see he also got some ideas from other story's.
The First gift set is great and you must own it. The 2nd is a big maybe if you don't want the gollum statue don't waste your money. I'm thinking about the 3rd gift set I may get it I may not I'm not sure yet.

The "Smeagol" statues only look like crap if you got a dud. I picked mine out myself from a pile at Best Buy on release day- for anyone who thinks they are all pretty consistant in quality you are dead wrong! I'm glad I didn't get mine shipped from a retailer, I'll say that much. Of course I picked the best looking one out of the pile
Here's a pic of mine:

Looks pretty good to me.......
Here's a pic I took of the ROTK set at comic-con:

You've got to remember. These statues are hand painted by large number of different painters, some more talented than others.
As a collector of the sideshow weta line of statues, I struggle with trying to get the best possible paint job for all my statues. I do this by buying multiples and picking the best of the lot and selling off the others. In the case of the gift set, it's easy to hand pick a good one.

You can bet me and DGC will be at a B&M on release day to pick through the pile! It's actually a rare opportunity to be able to pick through a dozen statues to select the best one. Why more weta collectors didn't take advantage of this is beyond me. The only normal statue that I had the luxury of doing this with was Saruman (I had 4 or 5 of them and sold off all extras).

I hand picked mine from a B&M too, digging through almost all of their existing stock
