Parents (1989) with Randy Quaid ?

Hi, im looking for help regarding PARENTS (1989) starring Randy Quaid. The DVD came out in 1999 and is OOP. I doubt it will be re-released so im wondering how this DVD is. I know that it is Fullscreen but how is the video quality? is it worth tracking down or should i just stick with the VHS? any help would be great, thanks.

Hey,

I have the 'Parents' DVD..... If i remember correctly, the video transfer was nice- If it was bad, I am sure I would remember... If i remember, the menus were very aesthetically pleasing as well.... Also, I am not sure if the OAR is 1.33:1, but I would assumeso given the camera style of Bob Balaban (director) and how his style would benefit from having the images flirt with all 4 edges of the screen (just like Kubrick's version of The Shining). I'd say go for it if you can locate one for a decent price.... Oh yea, if you get it, and decide you don't like it -- I can almost guarantee that you will have no problem selling it or swapping it away on this site....

Thanks,

Matt

I was reading one of the sites of public domain films and apparently PARENTS somehow is now a public domain film, meaning any video company can release it. One public domain company had it listed among their releases available for DVD.

New World released it, didn't they? I know they went bankrupt so I would assume the rights went along with them.

It can't be public domain. No way.

It's either Artisan/Lions Gate's or MGM's property.
