I will buy this the day it comes, and I would double-dip on this Spider-man 2.5 business that was rumored. I loved this movie so much.

Since this is a Columbia/Sony release I would expect them to offer a double pack with the first movie, a gift set, an eventual superbit, an eventual Spider-Man 2.5, etc.

Nice.
Yes, Friday releases aren't common, but do happen from time to time. You might want to check stores early though, because this sometimes confuses some smaller stores and they unintentionally break street date, by putting them up for sale on Tuesday.

Can't it be sooner....?

By the way, Shrek is another title that came out on a Friday timed with the theatrical release of Monsters, Inc.

Four months? That's about the average going rate for theater to DVD turn-around now. Any sooner and people would be asking, "Like, the movie was that bad, huh?"

Some more spidey info...

While the sequel is still going strong in theaters, 'Tom' from DVD Answers says they've got some early details about the November 19 release of the 2-disc DVD. Here's a clip...

We can confirm that the disc is set to include a couple of audio commentaries with the cast and crew, multiple behind the scenes featurettes (including a wealth of juicy material on the wonderful villain Doc Ock), a multi-angle on-set featurette and one or two still galleries. Completing the package will be a big selection of Spider-Man 2 trailers and TV spots.

Nothing much....but it's something

If they come out with a gift set, I will want that, but I will be debating on purchasing it right away. I picked up the first one on release day for $39.99 but now you can get it for $19.99.
