Canadian releases?

I just notice that there was a 3 disc deluxe release for "Brotherhood of the Wolf" in Canada. What other movies have better releases in Canda than in the US?

I am interested in these because they are still region 1 so my player will play them.

The Canadian Brotherhood of the Wolf 3 Disc release is also a longer cut of the movie. http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=1726

There are some movies, like Ginger Snaps, that came out in Canada with more extras, plus there are some french movies that never made it to the US market like Fanfan La Tulipe and the Asterix movies.

Is there a list or a good way to find out what releases are exclusive to Canada?

Also what is the best/cheapest way to buy Canadian releases?

Both versions of the Cult Horror film Black Christmas are only available in Canada, where the film was originally shot. There are a good many Canadian DVDs that have better releases than their U.S. counterparts, and the same goes for other region dvds as well. I didn't buy an all region dvd player myself, but my cousin found a site that had codes you can input with your remote for certain models of dvd players that can make them be all region players. He would also know where to buy Canadian and other region releases for cheap.

He is a gold trader on this site. His username is BrentLumkin. You can probably contact him on his most recent thread or do a search for his username. If not, here's his email address: [email protected]

Also, I saw a post of yours on another thread and had a few trade propositions for you. Check out my collection link on my latest stonecountry thread and let me know if we could work out anything for any of the following titles:

The Alfred Hitchcock Collection Vol. 1 Box Set (I Want That So Bad)
Army of Darkness Limited Edition
Alien (Part 1) and Aliens (Part 2)....(Only if they're the 2 Disc Sets)
The Abyss 2 Disc Set
The Birds

There may be a few others I'd like depending on what kind of deal we could make, if any. I need The 2 disc sets of the Alien movies to complete the other half of the quadrilogy. I just traded for 5 of the 4 Discs. Just check my link in my thread and get back to me via my link or preferably by e-mail at [email protected]

Hope this helps & Thanks,
stonecountry

Nope, we just got the same Columbia-TriStar regular and Superbit releases as the US did.

The Canadian version of Ginger Snaps simply kicks ass. It's head and tails over the US version.

If you like the movie, I can't recommend this DVD enough.

Just thought I should warn that the video on the Canadian Brotherhood of the Wolf is awful! It's just riddled with compression artifacts because of the movie's length and all the audio tracks. It was so bad I turned it off.

... current as of 04-25-02 ...

here's another link current as of 07-12-02

here is another good place to start... their list may not be 100% accurate and no doubt it isn't 100% complete but like I said... it's a place to start

It's inferior to the American release, but it's really not that bad.

Doh. Problem is I can't even rent it to see if it acceptable. I knew this had to be too good to be true.

I highly recommend Nicheflix for Canadian, hard to find US releases and multi-region rentals. They are even a DVDtalk sponsor!

I believe they even still have a free 10-day trial.
