Anyone keep the long carboard boxes?

I'm talking about the long carboard boxes they use at Sam's Club and Cost Co. You may remember them from when cds first came out. I think they look Cool. Well, Anybody keep em?

Aren't they just solid blue with "DVD" on them? They don't have a picture of the movie one-sheet or anything as I remember. I can't see why anyone woudl want them.

Funny you should ask that, I've hated those stupid cardboard things forever. Then I picked up CSI:Miami from costco last week, and the outer packaging was so pretty that I caught myself trying to find a reason to keep it. Fortunately, I came to my senses and recycled it.

Costco sometimes have cardboards w/ nice graphics, but they're mostly plain color, and w/ a coupon on the bottom for $5 on future movies for some.

Ive seen some that were movie specific in Sams before...

That being said, why is it that the places that still use these annoying security measures are the places where you have to show a membership card to get in? Sams Club was one of the last places to take their DVDs from behind a glass case. You would think that when their customers are made up of people who actually paid to shop there, they would trust them enough not to lock up the DVDs and allow them to use credit cards.

Sometimes, I'll cut one side off and keep that in a box (like the Sipmsons Season 4 Box)

I still have some of my old CD ones. I used to love it when CDs came in those.

Some have cool artwork on them. From a collector's point of view these are the odd things that people throw away on a regular basis that will eventually be worth something to somebody someday.

Normally I would not, but the SPR World War II collection I got from Costco was pretty cool. It has no window on both sides, instead it has artwork from the boxset. That's about the only outer box that I'm keeping.

I've still got a lot of CD longboxes from the mid-to-late 80s.
