Gidget Collection:Conflicting info-Wide or Full screen?

The new release of this box set has conflicting information about what the aspect ratio will be. Here is what the Sony website says:

Gidget - The Complete Collection (2 discs) - DVD

Format: DVD
Running Time: 95 Min.
Rated NR

SYNOPSIS

Before Blue Crush, Big Wednesday and Beach Party there was GIDGET, Hollywood's original ode to the Southern California beach scene. And here in this long-awaited DVD collection is the hit film that started an entire genre- presented in its original CinemaScope aspect ratio for the first time in 45 years - plus its two engaging sequels; GIDGET GOES TO ROME and GIDGET GOES HAWAIIN. A winning combination of humor, romance and music, the comic misadventures of Gidget and Moondoggie also inspired two popular television series as well as setting the screen standard for every teenage surf-sand-and-song saga that followed.

DVD FEATURES
Full Screen Presentation• Languages: English• Remastered in High Definition• 2-Disc Set!
If any reviewers have an advance screening copy (which I read were available last week), please post you findings here. I don't see how they can tout "original CinemaScope aspect ratio" and the dreaded Full-Screen in the same paragraph.

I have the DVD set. The synopsis is wrong. All of the movies in the Gidget DVD collection are full-screen, with really obvious pan-and-scanning on the original film, in particular.

Guess I'll spend my money somewhere else, because Rule #1 is:

NO OAR = NO SALE

If they have to release Gidget in fullscreen, I wish they'd release the TV show. I'd definitely buy it.

I believe the TV show is coming. Both seasons in a single set.

I just don't get it!! Why-o-why full-screen?
I guess it could be argued that that these movies are "family" and that's why they were released in modified form (though this is a TERRIBLE reason). But I think these films appeal to a different type of movie buyer (that wants OAR). MGM was kind enough to release all those 1960's Frankie/Annette beach party movies in widescreen and they look great!

Anyway's, thanks for posting the news rasalas, at least now I know not to get these.
