Do you keep tabs on what DVDs you watch?
 

I do.I keep a calander book and write down everything I watch on DVD.I have an unwritten rule that nothing can be watched again until 90 days have passed.

wow, if you see a movie you REALLY like you wont watch it for another 3 months? if this is how hardcore DVD collectors are I can see why they spend so much money on them......

btw no I don't, I watch whatever movie I'm in the mood for. This week it's been Fight Club. I've watched it about 2-3 times this week (and getting ready to watch it now).

Sometimes I sort of keep a mental record and try to watch a disc that I haven't watched in a while, but a calendar book? Wow.

I keep track of what I watch, when I watched it, and a rating from 1 to 10, plus any comments. I track it on a spreadsheet I get by exporting from DVD Profiler.

I don't have a 90 day limit, but since I got really really behind on watching stuff, I haven't been rewatching anything lately--it's not really a rule, but I just don't like having all these unwatched DVDs.

Adult movies don't have the 90-day rule.

The closest thing I have to this is my unwatched stack(s).

That's as close as I get to keepint tabs on which ones i watch.

I keep track with DVD Profiler (which will hopefully expand this feature with its next update so that it's searchable: e.g. a list of Westerns I haven't watched in 6 months, or a French comedy I've never seen). Also, I have a good friend who comes over a lot to watch movies & I keep track of the ones we've watched together. Helpful to those of us with large collections.

For those who haven't explored this option in DVD Profiler:

Highlight a DVD.
Right Click
Select "Watched By"
Select user(s) & date


You can also see a list of what you've watched:
Tools---> Edit Users
Select user
Click the "History" tab

I keep track of what I watch but no 90 day rule.

no rules here. however...I do have a system that nobody else uses and it serves two purposes. first...I have a small label on the back of my protective baggies, and on this, I date when I watch it. it's not my fault...it's the idiots at quality control. I feel better knowing that a disc from 5 years ago still plays without a hint of delamination or other aging defects. the only way to know, is if you watch the disc. with over 1,600 titles in my library, a title may go ignored for quite a length of time. if I pull out a dvd and see it has not been watched for a long while ...in the player it goes and enjoyment and testing begins. rotating the titles is important to me, worthless to others. I dont always stick to the routine...but it keeps me in line.:D

I also use Chad's "What Are You Watching This Week" thread to aid what I buy and watch for the week.

since I buy 7 to 10 a week, my viddey schedule usually includes 1 or 2 new discs a night....plus a moldie oldie. it all works for me.

I have a shelf for movies I haven't watch the DVD for yet. Other than that, I sort them by decade. That is the only sorting or keeping track I do.

Why would you <i><b>censor</b></i> your re-viewing of DVDs with a 90 day rule?

I'm not as bad as the OP but I do have almost a pathological preference to watch things in the order I get them. I'm around #250 right now and have 600+ total. For every one I watch I try to acquire two. Odd thing is that when I break the rule it's almost always for cheaper stuff that I only have mild interest in. This has the benefit of waiting for the really good things making them that much better (or that much worse for blind buys that disappoint).

To answer your question, I don't keep track of what I watch.

I keep track in Excel of every movie I watch, as well as what format it was on. I have only watched 100 movies so far this year though. :( School was rough in the spring, so hopefully it will get better in the fall.

Well, last school year, I watched a DVD every week. Once I watched one, I would not watch it for the rest of the year as part of that regement, but I would watch it on the weekend if I was so inclined.
