I rate the movies I see the same as above at the sites in my sig and will write a note or two on what I thought of it but that is the extent of it.

About the closest I come is the rating I give it on Netflix. Although like many others I do have a "to watch" stack of new stuff. I also usually put the DVDs I've seen but haven't seen all the features/commentaries on upside down on the DVD rack but that's it.

I watch what I want, when I want. I think I would have to be insane to tally or write down what I watch and wait a certain period to watch something again!

What happens if you forget about Daylight savings and put a disc in at the 89d 23h mark...do you like penalize yourself and not let yourself watch anything for a month? "no dvd for you!"

I keep track on DVD Profiler Notes section. Some DVDs I've had for years but haven't felt like watching - yet there are other favourite discs I like racking up the viewings as many times as possible. I wish I could get as enthusiastic about watching each one as I am about buying them.

I tried to, but I never keep up with it and eventually forget about it.

I watch everything as I get it, and rewatch it anytime I'm in the mood for it. I don't really have a schedule.....

I do the same thing. All movies are in alphabetical order, with a seperate shelf for those I haven't watched yet.

The reason I do this is because I rarely ever buy a movie that I've never seen before, so if just got mixed in, I'd forget that I haven't watched it. Also, I tend to buy in batches (CH accounts, DDD deals, ect.) so I have to do less rearranging this way.
This is more of a system to remind me "hey dummy, you bought this, why haven't you watched it yet? You've got 20 movies you haven't watched , why are you joining CH again?" :)

I don't keep track of movies I've watched but I would like to. I have just asked the developer of my DVD cataloging software to add this kind of capability. When I first started using iTunes, I didn't really think that being able to track which songs I had listened to would be important, but it turns out that it is a killer feature. Now I can have iTunes automatically make lists of songs that I have never heard, or songs that I haven't heard recently, as well as telling me which ones I listen to most often, etc. This means that I can expose myself to good music that, for whatever reason, wasn't getting listened to before. Before I started doing this, I found that I would listen to the same stuff over and over without really realizing it, which was a shame since I had lots of other good stuff. I think the same could be said for movies.

Limiting yourself to not watching a particular movie again in 90 days is silly, though.

I always send myself an email when I watch a title. Then I print it out so I have a paper record. Then in the upper right corner I code each sheet and then I file them in a file cabinet. This way I can pretty much remember when I watched something. I dont re-watch much, except for High Plains Drifter and double dippers.

You don't also happen to drive a cab, have newspapers stacked to the roof in your apartment, and an unknowing desire to purchase copies of Catcher in the Rye do you ?

I started doing this too after cataloging DVD's with a UPC scanner. It's easy.

Oh, I forgot, before I used the simpler "unwatched shelf" method, I used to use my pocketPC for this. Nothing too fancy, I just output a CSV file from DVDProfiler with just the title and running time. Then I'd import it to PocketExcel with just a check box to mark the ones I watched. I could then sort it by running time to figure out what to watch. Personally, this became a bit too much work adding new movies to it, I I stopped.

No and I could not possibly think of a single reason to do so. I buy what I like to watch repeatedly and watch them whenever the mood strikes me.
