If those are like the slim cases that the individual discs in the Homicide and Futurama box sets come in, I totally agree. That would be perfect IMO. :thumbsup:

The CDs that have bonus DVDs almost always come in the CD cases. However, I think the current DVD cases are fine.

yeah, those Thinpaks would be great. that would some of my storage problems if all DVDs were in those cases. as it is now, my DVDs have a bigger room than I do. :)

I'd be ok with it. In fact, I'd be ok having all my movies on one single disk which will hopefully be feasible in the next 20 years. I've already converted my 3,000 audio CDs to mp3 and burned them on DVDs. I've sold about 75% of them. The space I saved was enormous and it's also much easier to access the music now.

Would those CD cases have inserts? ;)

No way, but I'd love for them to be released in Thinpak cases more often (at least in box sets).

As I look at my shelf space... holding my CDs, I see broken cases, cracked cases, cases with broken hubs, etc. It looks like crap.

As I look at my shelf space... holding my DVDs, everything looks spectacular. Nothing broken. Nothing cracked. It has a certain class to it.

I'm gonna have to go with NO on this one.

Plus, CD's with special DVD bonus come in the jewel cases so I think the theory just fizzled out.

Keepcases are much better. I have some Japanese DVDs that came in CD jewel cases and I'm sorry, but I just don't like it. (thank god Japan finally switched to keepcases, except for a few stubborn companies)

I would like to eventually be able to store all of my movies on one drive, much as I have all of my music ripped to CDs on a single 250Gb drive (no, the mp3s don't yet completely fill the drive).

That's fine. But I'd want one big-ass box to stick next to the hard drive. Just so I get that sense of owning something. :D

Ah, but the plastic used for CD jewel cases is extremely brittle but the clear plastic used for ThinPaks and videogame CDROMs while not as "crystal clear" certainly are far more durable.

Imagine what your collection would look like if it took up 60% less space.

they can wrap the damn thing in a paper bag, for all I care. wrap it up in newspaper...thats fine. as long as the disc is undamaged and presented right...and of course...protected. ok, so maybe dropping it in a bag isnt the best idea:lol:.

you get my point. I care about the film and the disc...not really what it comes in. what they are in now is just dandy and I have few complaints. not enough to whine about anyway.

A CD and a DVD are exactly the same, thickness-wise and diameter-of-hole-wise.

WHY would a jewel case's hub be any more "dangerous" for a DVD vs. an Audio-CD, whose hole is exactly the same size.

Plus, I disagree with your assessment re. the "softness" of a DVD case's hub. What's so "soft" about them? They're no "softer" than the plastic hub of a CD's jewel package.

At over 600 DVDs I say NO to cd cases and Thin-pak cases!!

I would much rather cd's come in dvd packaging.
