This is usually referred to as "The Moroder version", which was scored with contemporary songs by Giorgio Moroder in the early 1980's. This is one of the more elusive and valuable laserdiscs. Any Region 1 DVD would be a bootleg.

Damn. I saw this version on TV and was wondering what the hell was up with the soundtrack. I think I'll try n find a bootleg DVD just to have that soundtrack, I thought it was pretty great.

I saw it in the theater back in the day. I was too young to drive so my dad took me. He must have been thinking "Good lord, why did they have to trash this film with that awful music!"
I loved it though (at the time), and I even still have the vinyl LP soundtrack!

For what it's worth, the current restoration of the film on Kino is a more complete version of the film. The Morodor version also took some liberties with the original editing to accomodate some of the musical choices (that's my theory).
I remember seeing this version once in Philadelphia, but with the sound off and a live piano accompaniment!

The Morodor version will never ever see the light of day again. The rights to the music will be a gordian knot to untangle, and the movie is no longer in the public domain. (the rights being renewed because of the restored version from a couple of years ago).
I'm glad I picked up the laser version for a song. The movie is totaly worth it, even with the tinting.
