Do The Right Thing Criterion edition?
is this worth buying or like with every other title in its library does Universal have plans on releasing a special edition?
The criterion version is the only version in print.

Get the Criterion version! It's a 2-disc SE with tons of features...

I have it and really like it. If you like the movie I'd go for it.

CC edition no doubt.

It's a terrific set. I doubt Universal is going to release a DVD that would rival this one in anyway.
If you don't want to spend too much try looking for it used. I assume it's one of the more
popular Criterion titles, so you should be able to find it if you keep your eyes peeled.

It's a great edition of a contemporary classic, and one of my "essential" DVDs.

It is anamorphic.
Sadly I don't own this but I've seen a friends copy, and if you even like the film a little bit I would say shell out the little extra cash and you won't be sorry.
I don't like paying a whole lot for DVDs either, but part of being a movie fan is sometimes paying more for films that are worth it. Even if Universal did an SE I doubt it'd be anywhere near as good as this.

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
This is not only the one of the best films of the 1980s, but also a JAM-PACKED dvd. As everyone else wrote, the quality of the extras is fantastic, and there's SO MUCH great stuff. It's all good. The cast reading the script, a featurette about how they employed the neighbourhood to build sets, work on the film, etc., screen tests, commentary - just fantastic.

In Communist Russia, the Right Thing does you!
Seriously, just pick it up at DVDPlanet for less than $26 shipped. Easy-peasy.
(I don't own it, since I'm not a huge fan of Lee's films... but I do agree that this is one great SE. If you like the film, you can't go wrong. There isn't the slightest chance in hell that Universal will release a superior edition.)
