I believe it was supposed to be rereleased under Universal's "High School Reunion" mantle, but got dropped from the roster.

Perhaps they figured out that there was only one high school student in it.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some copies with the "High School Reunion Collection" banner, but that wouldn't explain why it's OOP, as it has the same UPC. I just realized last week that another Universal title, Half-Baked, also appears to be out of print. Perhaps a new edition is being planned, no doubt to capitalize on Dave Chappelle's recent popularity.

As far as I know, there are no plans to release a special edition of Mallrats. It may be OOP (not sure, personally), but you can still get it on Amazon or at ViewAskew.com.

I can't see any reason to create a new edition of Mallrats. Seriously, the original disc was pretty damned packed full of supplements already.

Name a time when Universal didnt need a choclate covered pretzel.

Perhaps the person who decided this was a "High School Reunion" movie was smoking some of what Jay smuggled backstage.

I'd buy another Mallrats DVD if it had a second disc with the TV version WITH commentary. That would be gold.
