I have 2, Matrix Rev. and KB. Should probably be 0, I really wanted to wait until the big box sets came out for both those series, but I got them cheap at HWV previously viewed. Oh, and like alot of the others here, I'm waiting for the EE on ROTK.

Kill Bill
Return of the King  |
i have 0. waiting for an uncut version of kill bill 1 or ill splurge on the japanese dvd.
|
I personally have been waiting like everyone else for Star Wars, but I will not buy this set, not when I can get a 6 movie pack one year later. I have these movie already on laserdisc so I am in no huge rush. However, several of those other movies will be purchased by years end. I doubt I am the only one that feels this way though we will be in the minority. Christmas is for kids and I figure Shrek 2 has a great shot at No. 1 by years end, but LOTR and Star Wars should be there as well with sales.

Can't believe Kill Bill is so high. It just shows that consumers don't care about double-dipping. I own 3 of them and only plan on getting Kill Bill when both versions are released together.
|
i only got 3 of those... :)

i've got all of those but 3... skipped lion king 1/2, brother shite and cat in the ass... shows what big sellers kids titles are...because all three of those movies pretty much blew the donkey they rode in on... I also don't think star wars will finish number 1 for the year, but it's going to be pretty damn high...

I have 2 of the 10... The real surprise to me was Open Range & Cheaper by the Dozen. I never saw them but they definatly didn't look like "Top 10" films.
I also am of the opinion that Star Wars won't be #1. Top 10 for sure but not #1. I think you could easily estimate where it will land by looking at the sales for the Indiana Jones & Back To The Future boxes. All of them where highly anticipated, majorly bootlegged and only available in the box set (no single movie release). It'll probably land somewhere in that ballpark, more then likely a little bit higher. |
I don't own any yet I'm waiting for Kill Bill Vol. 1 to come out with Vol. 2 to get the set together, and I'm also waiting for LOTR:ROTK: EE
|
I always wonder if they count the copies they sell to Netflix or Blockbuster as part of their # of copies sold.
|
Out of those I only bought 3 (LOTR, Revolutions, and Samurai)
|
Well my daughters really wanted Brother Bear and the Lion King 1 1/2 so from the list I have:
1. LotR: RotK 2. Lion King 1 1/2 3. Matrix Revolution 4. Bother Bear 5. Kill Bill Vol 1 7. Open Range What I want to buy in the near future: 8. Cheaper by the Dozen 9. Last Samurai What I will not buy is: 6. Spy Kids 3 10. Cat in the hat |

Just 3 out of 10 for me as well -- LotR: RotK; Matrix Revolution & Last Samurai -- all thanks to Hollywood Video's 3-for-$25 PPV sale.
|
Waiting for SE - 1. LotR: RotK
Yes - 2. Lion King 1 1/2 Yes - 3. Matrix Revolution Yes - 4. Brother Bear Bought the Japanese, but got the R1 as a gift - 5. Kill Bill Vol 1 Kids want, but not yet- 6. Spy Kids 3 Yes - 7. Open Range Yes (wife made me I swear..)8. Cheaper by the Dozen Yes - 9. Last Samurai Not a chance - 10. Cat in the hat |
I've got 9 of the 10, all of them bought PVD for $7.50 or less (most $7.10 or less).
I don't have brother bear because MovieGallery tried to pull a fast one and sell the widescreen and foolscreen discs seperately for PVD and while I don't care so much about inserts, and I don't like foolscreen, there was no way I was going to encourage spliting a single product into two, full price, products. Maybe if they had sold them seperately at half the price I would have bought them. But they didn't and no way was I going to reward that kind of greed. (They did the same for spy kids 3/3D, but I found the complete release somwhere else). My solution to the kill bill censorship was to buy the US dvd, and then find the japanese cut on the net and watch that instead. |
Got 4 out of 10.
And I will be adding Star Wars to the collection when it comes out and lands on the list at whatever number. |

I own four of them.
LOTR: ROTK Matrix: Revol. Last Samurai Open Range Double-dipping on ROTK and on the Matrix box set. However, couldn't wait for the unconfirmed Matrix set to get the Revolutions DVD. Every one is questioning Brother Bear, but how on Earth did Cat in the Hat make it? There sure are a bunch of stupid people out there. I'm surprised that Bad Santa didn't make the list. sheesh! As for the Indy set, yeah, I'm surprised that it didn't sell as well. I aksed a W*M employee about its sales and they said that it wasn't selling all that well. Star Wars however will surely be on the top 5. Indy is kind of a dead franchise, Star Wars however is still a living one. |
Brother Bear was one of the better Disney films to come out in a while. And it's the only one of the 10 I own.
I too am waiting for the EE or ROTK. And I agree with the reasoning above, Star Wars won't be #1. |
We are only half way done with 2004. Alot of time for other movies to get in there. I think Cat sold well because 1) it's a kid film and kids like all the colors :) and 2) it didn't do well at the Box so all those who didn't go get the DVD for their kids.
I think Spiderman 2 will become #1. Kill Bill V2 will also knock another off the current list. Maybe Hellboy will sell well on DVD and knock off another. The list will end up being all Sci-Fi except for Last Samurai and kid films. |
Originally posted by fitprod OK, for those of you stating the impossible, and you know who you are... STAR WARS WILL NOT FINISH #1 FOR THE YEAR! Here are the reasons why... 1. Shrek 2 Possibly, this movie was great and got great reviews. 2. Spider-man 2 When will this come out on DVD? I would speculate sometime near X-mas, but I doubt it'll be out long enough to break records before year's end. 3. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King I can see it happening. 4. Harry Potter 3 No way. Most HP fans will be buying the SW set, and not vice-versa. 5. King Arthur (No matter how bad it is...) Beat SW in DVD sales?! See reasoning for #2 as well. 6. I Robot (See 5) See #5. 7. The Day After Tomorrow (2 X Reason 4) If this beats SW I'll commit ritual suicide, that's not a promise. 8. The age of the films. The films themsleves are timeless. The older people will buy them because they saw them in theatres. The kids will buy them becase of all the added CG and tie-ins to the newer movies. 9. The price point. Agreed. But Amazon has had it at $40 for quite a while, which is not that bad. MAP of $89.95 or whatever is ridiculous though. 10. The long wait many have endured. This just makes everyone that much thirstier. Some fanboys (myself included) have felt alienated, but in general, everyone wants this bad. fitprod |
I own three.
And for those who bought Cat in the Hat: Shame on you. |
Only bought 1 of those. (Kill Bill)
