Here's the STAR WARS: OT Changes...

...or so rumored.

From: http://www.millenniumfalcon.com/

Episode IV: A New Hope DVD:

* LightSabers changed for Vader versus Ben Kenobi Death Star duel.
* TractorBeam control now in Aurebesh.
* Han and Greedo scene slightly changed (everyone's seen this).
* Jabba the Hutt redone from Special Edition Jabba.
* Boba Fett still mugs camera.
* Han still steps on tail, "You're a wonderful human being," still there.
(The scene is an improvement over the SE, but still not great.)

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

* Emperor replaced with Ian McDiarmid.
Dialogue in this scene has been slightly modified, indicating either that the Emperor knows it was Luke who nuked the Death Star, or that he is Vader's son. Maybe both. Otherwise, dialogue remains in tact. Emperor's theme from Jedi also added into the scene.

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi:

* Hayden Christenson has replaced Sebastian Shaw only in the Force Ghost shot.

* Line about Leia remembering her mother while talking to Luke on the Ewok Village veranda has either been omitted, or modified.

* Naboo has been added to the final planetary celebration montage at the end of the movie. It is a shot very similar to the helicopter shot of Theed in TPM when AATs are moving up the street towards the palace.

Original Trilogy Bonus Materials Extras:

* Episode III teaser trailer.
* Episode III Vader "making of" featurette.
* EASTER EGG: Warwick Davis short film of Wickett the Ewok fighting Boba Fett on the Death Star II, shot as a gag during the filming of Return of the Jedi.

Episode I DVD ReRelease:

* Puppet Yoda has been replaced completely by CGI.

That's it.

Don't see why they would replace Shaw in the ghost scene and not in the Death Star, but I am glad they didn't do that at least.

CGI Yoda in EP1 sounds better to me. That puppet always looked bad. He didn't look like Yoda at all.

New Emperor in ESB is a good change too. Hope the new Greedo and Jabba scene doesn't look like crap either.

Nah. Lucas never mentioned releasing EP1 again...

The fact that this guy mentioned that makes me a little suspicious...

I am not saying I believe the list nor, not believe it, but that sounds fishy to me. Why show/mention EP1 stuff?

Sounds like a quiet re-release, which is the norm for Lucasfilm. The old Ep. 1 disc has been out of print, I believe for a few months now.

Yeah, he could re-release it without even mentioning that Yoda has been redone. It would be like it never happened... =p

WAIT!!!

Maybe he'll remove the whole bull**** about midiclorians??

Hmm...perhaps changes can be a good thing??

Well, if they're changed there, what about when Luke fires it up in Kenobi's house and in the Falcon for the Jedi training ball sequence?

Not as extensive as I was hoping on Ep4. So will luke's lightsaber still look the same when he ignites it the first time? I'm hoping they'll fix a few of the bloopers also (the crewmans leg, rope pulling droids, see-thru masks etc..)

We'll see I guess.

If it's on the Internet, it has to be true.

Well I seriously doubt they shows the entire movies duriong this whole thing, and I doubt he noticed every change.

Don't forget tho, this could all be total BS.

Its true that the original Episode 1 disc is no longer available for sale at many stores, including Amazon.

When is all the madness going to stop? Maybe Lucas should release the OT after Ep3 is out. Otherwise he might go back and do more changes?

I'm waiting for the big six-film box, but damned if I don't rent these discs. I've been craving a good space film.

No mention of "Luke's scream", huh? I'm surprised they're not cleaning up the Rancor scene. It's the one scene that actually SHOULD'VE been redone, but it still looked pretty bad in the SEs.

I don't see why it's so difficult to put back the original Han/Greedo scene

It's not! Lucas just doesn't want to.

Having said that, I question the validity if this list. We can all assume lightsabers will be redone, matte lines removed, and significants amount of digital recompositing, and we'd probably be correct. I also think it would be accurate to note that Ian will replace the monkey-eyed emperor in ESB, and Jabba will be redone in ANH.

If they want to re-release Episode I on DVD, fix the transfer, because it needs it.

This is either a BS post or simply incomplete. There have to be more changes than that. If Lucas is such a perfectionist, how could he let this out with the ugly looking Rancor scene unchanged or Han still walking over Jabba's tail? It makes no sense. There must be more or this information is not correct.

Lucas should just go back and re-shoot the Original Trilogy at this point.

That's a great idea. Of course, the trade off would be he gives us the original trilogy unchanged on DVD. But I wouldn't mind seeing remakes of the OT, especially with the technology where it is at today. Lucas had quite a few great ideas for the movies that never made it to the final cuts because of the constraints of the days they were made in.

However, the downside would be if he remade the OT, he would think of new ideas along the way that would change the continuity of episodes one thru three, so he'd have to do special editions on those, ban the original versions of those, and the whole thing would start over again.

I hate to say it, but nothing Lucas does from now on, remakes, prequels, etc., will ever touch the magic that was created by the original OT. Even with their flaws the SE versions of the OT still contain that magic.

Of all the changes made to 'A New Hope', i'm surprised that Lucas didn't add the Imperial March to the musical score.
