You're right!! How could I have missed those? I'd better get over to DDD while the sale is on.
I'm still a fan of his silly 60's movies. That lot being relased this Aug. has some of my favorites, like Speedway. I hope these are anamorphic, the earleir releases like Viva Las Vegas aren't.

For instant satisfaction and a great price, Costco has the 68 Special for $29.99.
I got this set today and am amazed that there seem to be no reviews online. Beautifully packaged in a "hardcover" jacket with foldouts inside, this set has been put together with a whole lotta love! Pretty much everything that survives has been collected here. Its more than a lot of people need, true, but with both sit-down shows in full, both stand-up shows in full, and all the outtakes etc, its a treasure trove to be sure.
I compared the picture with the old Lightyear release. While the resolution is limited because of the videotape source, colours are stronger and blacks are much more solid in this new release.

I can't find Aloha Froma Hawaii anywhere. Everybody has the '68 Special though. At this Canadian DVD retailer CD Plus.com - Aloha from Hawaii they are showing June 29th as the release date. Maybe it got pushed back a week.

I should add that I also picked up the '68 set from Costco. Very nice packaging, but it really is overkill. I'd imagine that disc one is all I'd watch (the complete show). Still it's nice to have all this stuff, I guess. It's probably more "essential" to have the alternate takes in the "Aloha" set since I understand that his rehersal show was better than the live broadcast. In any case, I guess it's better to have too much than not enough.
BTW don't get too excited about the 5.1 remix, it sounds a lot like 2.0 to me.
