Kill Bill Volume 1 Special Edition

I should know this but man. Does the Kill Bill Volume 1 Special Edition coming out later this year going to be the US theatrical cut or the uncut Asian version with colored House of Blue Leaves fight? or is that Japanese version only for the box set??

No one knows yet. However, I'd say it's most likely that it'll be a combined set of both volumes in their uncut versions.

You know, I watched that entire movie the other day on DVD for the first time and it wasn't until after I finished it that I realized I could have turned on the subtitles for the Japanese.

I mean, that was in the back of my mind, I know subtitles exist on most DVDs, especially the big releases, but I thought maybe Tarantino didn't intend for us to know what was said in japanese.

Because, it wasn't on the movie print as the actual default. Instead, you had to turn it on for the subtitles.

Wish I had discovered that before the credits :-)

Question marks on subject titles help. Just a friendly reminder, I came in here thinking someone might have info about the special edition release.

On the Region 1 DVD for Volume 1, the sub-titles for the Japanese are on by default, and appear as they did in the theater.

I'll be getting no matter what also. It's one of my favorite films of all time.

Hmmm...

It didn't come on by default for me. I thought maybe it was just Tarantino's intention for viewers to not know what was being said in japanese, since I didn't see it in theatres. You are able to get the gist of what they are saying in their emotion and body language.

Some of the decisions he makes with his flicks and such are questionable, but that's what makes his stuff so great.

I thought this was just another one of those wierd decisions.

Gonna have to watch it again though, I'm sure it's even better when I know what was being said.

On that note, I believe the OP's question has been more than sufficiently answered. Closing thread.

This is my first post here, but did anyone notice Tarantino's cameo in Kill Bill Vol 1?
Its after Johnny Mo's death and he falls into the water. There will be an over shoulder shot of The Bride looking down on the main floor, right by her head, there is a guy walking around in the background, in pain, holding his head. That's Quentin.
Love this movie by the way, one of my favourites. Rumour is there will be at least 6 releases of this on DVD in the lil while ahead.
