DVD Recommendations (Westerns)
First off, I hope I posted this in the right place.
Well, I just saw Once Upon a Time in the West and all I have to say is "WOW". Now that's a masterpiece. I can't believe I've never heard of this movie before. So far I love all of Sergio Leone's movies. The man just knows how to make movies!!!
Anyways, I need some dvd recommendations for more westerns. I'm looking for movies in the same "style" as OUATITW. The cinematography and music are great in this movie.
These are the ones that I own:
Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Fistful of Dollars
Few Dollars More
Magnificent Seven
Unforgiven
Once Upon a Time in the West
Tombstone
Butch Cassidy
I just read a post about another Sergio Leone movie Fistful of Dynamite, so I'll pick that one up as soon as its released in Region 1. Never seen that one either. Are there any others that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Steve

pick up the collections...Once Upon A Time In Italy and The Spaghetti Western Collection. TSWC is from Blue Underground and contains the gem, Django...which is a must have. these 2 sets will give you alot of film and some essential adds for your collection. my personal fave...The Great Silence...should be in every fans library. do some research on that and the above sets and see what you think.
or you can just pick up the re-release of Django all by itself. it comes with a cool bonus mini-disc and is essential for Franco Nero fans.

Thanks
The Great Silence looks interesting as does Django (too bad it doesn't have a Morricone score).
Two more dvds to add to my ever-growing want list

John Waynes?
Personally, I really love John Wayne movies. My top two picks are Rio Bravo (RB) and the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (MWSLV). RB has beautiful cinematography, the cast is excellent (Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan, Angie Dickinson, and Ward Bond do a great job), and the music is really good (especially the Nelson/Martin duets).
MWSLV has a much more serious tone, and is especially notable for the fine acting from Jimmy Stewart and Wayne.

Thanks for all the recommendations
I've seen most of the well-known ones (Shane, Hang Em High, etc.) and plan to pick those up in the future.
Are there any really good Lee Van Cleef movies out there? Besides the Man with No Name trilogy.

Surprised to not see mentioned yet is Open Range. Although not necessarily a classic by any means, but it has one of the best looking and sounding town shoot-outs in any Western I've ever seen.

Agreed! This movie is excellent, if you can get over the Coster love interest thing.
