nip/tuck question?

I have a question about the first season "nip/tuck" DVD. When I put the disc into my player the normal FBI warnings appear, but then there is a warned saying that the discs are only suppose to be distributed through subsiterataries from Hong Kong and such... then there is a page of chinese characters.

I bought the DVD set from Costco, so I don't think its a bootleg (or at least i hope not), but then again, i ahve never seen chinese characters on a region 1 dvd before... is this on anyone elses set?

Nope - mine have no Asian characters anywhere on the packaging or anywhere on the screen at any time. Come to think of it, mine don't even have any FBI screens at all - it's just the WB logo and then the menu - nothing else.

A few Warner discs are actually multi-region and will show a different copyright warning depending on what region the player is- sounds like your player may be set to region 3.

Thats kindof weird considering I don't think my player is multi-regional, but i have noticed that playing the discs on my computer, it does not show the chinese screens... hmm this is funky...

Yeah, weird....take it to a friend's place and see what it says.

If it does the same thing, maybe take a pic of the disc art so others can compare it. Maybe someone did a switcheroo and they just repackaged a return.

Has anyone else noticed some weird "comb-like" effects during scene cuts on this set?

I'm viewing these discs on a Philips set to interlaced, which is feeding a 36" 4:3 direct view set. In many cases, whenever there's a shot change (i.e., from one person to another having a conversation), I can see what looks liek combing. I decided to step through a few of the instances, and what I found was in every case there was a frame that had *both* shots intermingled. Does that make sense?

It sucks because it's very distracting. I don't recall seeing this on the first few episodes, so maybe that's why some of the reviews didn't mention it. I've seen in on episodes 7, 8 and 9 on disc 3. Could this be a disc issue?
