Anybody buy both formats?
I usually buy widescreen but when Spiderman came out in 2002 I bought both versions since they had different covers.

i would never purposely buy a Full Screen ver. of a film if a Widescreen ver. was available - especially if it was just for a different cover. Variant covers may work for comic books, but for DVDs...? i don't think so.

The only time I purchase both versions are when they are available on the same DVD. Otherwise I only purchase the widescreen version or the OAR of the movie.

Not only is it kind of a dumb reason to buy the fullscreen crap but you now have to be careful not to be embarassed if someone sees the crapola version in your collection. If you were a true collector you wouldn't be caught dead with a fullscreen DVD (unless it was OAR) anywhere near your truly deserving OAR versions!
And the biggest reason for not buying the fulscreen version is you help give the studios a false sence that more people like the damn fullscreen then really do because you had to have the cover in your collection!

The only time I've ever bought a fullscreen DVD was on accident, and of course I promptly returned it for the widescreen. I do have a few DVDs in fullscreen, but it's because they were only released fullscreen (CSI season one, for example).
Don't buy fullscreen!!! I miss the days when I didn't have to look at a DVD package because they were all widescreen, and now I have to examine every one before I purchase it.

I was forced to buy a foolscreen Shrek in order to get Shrek 3d. I'm planning on giving the foolscreen version away or at a very nominal fee to someone at work.
I guess its a small price to pay compared to paying admission to Universal Studios twice and watching it there. Although I am missing one D with the dvd.
