Do you buy the fullscreen and widescreen dvds for one movie?

Anybody buy both formats?

I usually buy widescreen but when Spiderman came out in 2002 I bought both versions since they had different covers.

That seems like a waste of money to me, especially when there are so many other dvds you could be buying instead of the same movies twice. I only buy the widescreen.

now that's collecting!

No I won't purchase full screen, unless of course, it's the only option.

i would never purposely buy a Full Screen ver. of a film if a Widescreen ver. was available - especially if it was just for a different cover. Variant covers may work for comic books, but for DVDs...? i don't think so.

Waste of money if you ask me. Widescreen only if it's offered in two forms. I don't touch FS with a ten foot pole.

I only buy the original aspect version. I am not interested in altered content.

The only time I'd buy something like that is if it were an edited and colorized pan-and-scan version of a dubbed foreign language film.

Well, then technically you should be buying both versions of EVERY movie, since the WIDESCREEN ones say "WIDESCREEN" and the FULL SCREEN ones say "FULL SCREEN". That makes the covers different.

I never buy fullscreen unless it is the only option and I cannot stand to be without the title being offered.

Widescreen only for me, I can't justify a double dip just for the packaging. Also why would you want foolscreen anyway?

The only time I purchase both versions are when they are available on the same DVD. Otherwise I only purchase the widescreen version or the OAR of the movie.

Widescreen only, unless it's not an option.

Is there anyone who buys fullscreen because they like it better?

Technically, you now have 2 more Spiderman dvds to buy a Deluxe and a Superbit version. That's a total of 4 Spiderman dvds. Kind of silly if you asked me.

Not only is it kind of a dumb reason to buy the fullscreen crap but you now have to be careful not to be embarassed if someone sees the crapola version in your collection. If you were a true collector you wouldn't be caught dead with a fullscreen DVD (unless it was OAR) anywhere near your truly deserving OAR versions!

And the biggest reason for not buying the fulscreen version is you help give the studios a false sence that more people like the damn fullscreen then really do because you had to have the cover in your collection!

The only time I've ever bought a fullscreen DVD was on accident, and of course I promptly returned it for the widescreen. I do have a few DVDs in fullscreen, but it's because they were only released fullscreen (CSI season one, for example).

Don't buy fullscreen!!! I miss the days when I didn't have to look at a DVD package because they were all widescreen, and now I have to examine every one before I purchase it.

I was forced to buy a foolscreen Shrek in order to get Shrek 3d. I'm planning on giving the foolscreen version away or at a very nominal fee to someone at work.

I guess its a small price to pay compared to paying admission to Universal Studios twice and watching it there. Although I am missing one D with the dvd.
