Lethal Weapon Collection DVDs

I have a question about the Lethal Weapon DVD Collection, I bought this collection probably 4 years ago when I got my first DVD player. Well, I watched the second part a couple nights ago on my widescreen TV for the first time and it looked out of wack. I played the disc on the widescreen side, but it looked like the widescreen version of this DVD is a widescreen version for 4:3 TVs. Are the older DVDs like this? I have the first Die Hard collection that came out years ago also and it looks this way too, but all my other 200+ DVDs that I know of, look just fine in the 16:9 format. Did they used to make widescreen DVDs just for the 4:3 format with the letterboxes on them? Thanks. Also, do you guys know if the newer collections of the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon series offer a better widescreen mode for 16:9 TVs? Thanks again.

The old version is non-anamorphic. Basically, the black bars are part of the DVD image.

The new version is anamorphic (or enhanced for 16x9).

Lethal Weapon 2 is the only one of the set that is non-anamorphic. So you would only have to pick up that one. But the newer ones do have a DTS track that the older ones don't have.

Yeah, but on par with other early Warner attempts at dts on DVD, it doesn't sound too special.

If anything I prefer the fact that they're director's cuts.

That's cool. I might just find a new second part. I like the DTS, but I'm not gonna buy the whole collection again for that, as long as it is in 5.1 I'm good.

I need to check the 2nd and 3rd parts in my Die Hard collection to see if they are anamorphic or not. Thanks a lot.

Any word why Lethal Weapon 4 didn't receive a DC also? Its a shame that they didn't do all of them at the same time.

Just so people aren't confused, you can still buy 1 for $7 (not like BB's 2 for $20 or similar where you'd pay more per DVD if you just bought one.)

It just so happened that I needed LW 1 & 2, so it was a good deal to pick them both up for that price.
