Yea looks pretty good probably the best versions of these cartoons we'll ever see.
However, they're probably like 1% of all Popeye cartoons, so as soon as I get around to it I think I'll try and see which is "The" DVD to get of all the non-PD ones.

What's the difference between this and the 3 disc version that is listed on deepdiscount? I can't tell, other than that one has 2 discs and the other has 3. Can somebody confirm this. Btw, the 3 disc sells for $22.26.

I adore the 3-disc set. This is early 60's animation comparable to some of the Hanna Barbera(Huckleberry Hound,Quick Draw McGraw,Yogi Bear) animation of that time period..

It's not enhanced or censored because I noticed Olive Oyl calling Popeye something that isn't politically correct now-a-days.

Since it has over 80 animated shorts-you are only paying about 30 cents per short so I think it's a good deal.

And by "enhanced" I mean did they add sound effects and stuff? Cause that seems very popular with popeye PD DVDs. (I'm surprised 60's popeye eps are PD).
Also, how come it had so many bad reviews on amazon?

They didn't add sound effects.I grew up watching thuis stuff so I can see someone maybe younger not thinking much of it.There is alot worse animation out there.

Just my two cents, but the Fleischers from the 30s and early 40s are the ones most Popeye fans want and deserve to have. The VCI 2 DVD set is probably the best we'll have (the 3 Color featurettes looking a bit better than before & the few others that are PD now) -- there IS some faint talk of WB putting restored versions out (search the forum on Jerry Beck's Cartoon Research site). It could come to nada, but's it's more hopeful than the situation has been for some time.
Sorry, but I don't think those 60s TV shorts are worth can hold a candle to Fleischers (or the Famous Studios) shorts in any way, shape, or form.
As far as what's been on tv, the color Famous Studios shorts (Paramount releases) have been shown with more frequency than these ones from the 60s. When I grew up, the Fleischers were a staple of afternoon tv -- before B&W was the kiss of death --- now even the Cartoon Network has written all B&W off. There was a great CN show called "The Popeye Show" that rewarded viewers at 1am with several Fleischers and Famous Studios shorts each week, from nice prints. Now, they won't even show it in reruns.
