Are all your posts this informative? Maybe 10.5 is more to your level of viewing.
To the original poster....

I hope it is, I really enjoyed seeing the show again. At least we know season 2 is coming out this year for sure- if they change their minds I'll kick them.
Also, it's so cool to go into a thread with a rude, useless comment! You must have such a filled life, wow.

The numbers on Amazon are promising considering how many dvds are available. I would say it is selling very well.

I'm glad to hear that, am I the only one who loves the packaging?

Yup, I love the packaging too.
I really hope it sells a lot because if they don't release all seasons, I'm going to be severely peed off.
An excellent, excellent show.

I think it was a great show. It also seemed to get you hooked right in the very first show.
If you check out the Northern Exposure review here, the reviewer hadn't watched the show before, and wasn't really hooked or drawn in after the first 8 shows which was season one. And I could see his point, because it took some time for that show to really catch its stride. I remember intially tuning in for Maggie, but getting hooked along the way to all the quirky characters and great writing, but it took some time.
I watched the pilot of PO5 and I just couldn't stop watching the episodes and went through most of the boxset in a few days.
And it was packaged very nicely as mentioned by others here. I can't wait for season two of this, Gilmore Girls, and seasons 1 and 2 of Newsradio!

I can't remember how many seasons I saw, but after a few seasons here in the UK, they asked the public to vote on whether to show the next season of Party of Five or the next season of Dawson's Creek, and they would only show one. As much as I love Dawson's Creek, I way preferred Party of Five, but Dawson's Creek won so I never found out what happened to the Five guys! Now's my chance!

Where does one find out DVD sales? I don't mean like the Top 20 that you can find on DVDFile, etc. But actual numbers of units sold and beyond the Top 20.

Why does it cost that much?

I think it's because it's basically considered a film industry "tool" (like Variety.com and the mag which run $250 a year) and is more geared toward entertainment biz professionals then the casual subscriber.

There goes the party pooper!
In any case, I loved the first season of this show!
The show did get stinky towards the end, though.

The main reason for this show's success was due to it's cast and the great chemistry they had together. I forget which season won the golden globe award? Was it season one or season two??? I will take a look online to see if I can find any info.

UPDATE: Party Of Five began in 1994 and the award was given in 1996 so I am assuming it was the second season.

Absolutely. And the thing is, if you'd never seen the show and just read a synopsis, it's very hard to appreciate why it's such captivating and enjoyable viewing. I mean, it's such a simple idea with uncomplex stories, but it's so beautifully executed by a great cast that it just comes together so well.
And according to Columbia (I emailed them) they are very happy with the way "Party of Five Season 1" is selling... They didn't come out and tell how well, or how happy, but at leat there not dissapointed!

Just finished Season 1!!! C'mon Season 2.....
Not like I will not be busy with other sets but it would have been nice to continue on without pause. Hopefully, Season 2 will be out in the fall. Until then...Tour of Duty and The Waltons are calling me along with several movie titles I have yet to watch.
I remember in the spring of 1997 when all I had to watch were two dvd titles. Jumanji and Sleepless in Seattle. Titles like Twister and The Fugitive were only available in the "test" markets.

I have many box sets but this is one that I watched in a matter of a week. On one weekend I watched five episodes one evening and the next day seven more. It was like watching one long neverending movie. I finished watching the entire season and enjoyed every episode. Looking forward to Season 2.
