This popular film will be available to own on DVD for the first time from the 10th August, and should retail at around $24.96. Thanks Rob, I've been waiting for this one. Looking forward to hearing the soundtrack!! MSRP is high for a movie without any extras though.

Is that the one where Britney Spears "cuts heads" with Steve Vai?

Great movie - nice to see it finally showing up. And yes, Columbia/Tristar still insist on high MSRP for some of their bare-bones releases.... here's hoping CH carries it.

I think I wore out my VHS copy playing air guitar to the duel at the end when I was a kid.

I wore out my copy learning how to actually play that duel on my guitar. (I still remember most of it - the main parts, anyway).

I have been waiting for this one for a while now. I cant wait to purchase this. As soon as I get a grasp on what I buy, they keep sucking more $$$ right out of my wallet.

I love the "Wax on, wax off" part.

It would have been nice if they did something on the music and the symbolism involved.

Cool flick. Will have to pick it up when it's released.

I did the same thing. I spent hours learning it note for note then one of those guitar magazines put out the sheet music for the entire duel in one of their issues....I still have te sheet music to this day.

"Why don't you come down to the club? I've got a real good guitar player...name's Jack Butler. Cuts heads every Saturday night..."

Loved that line.

I had this movie taped on a VHS from HBO years and years ago. Played the guitar duel over and over again. Loved the guitar crunch that Vai played after his wailing screech when he raised the guitar over his head.

Ralph Macchio's classic guitar solo always made me tear up it was so beautiful, and to see Vai just stand there with that "Wha?" look on his face.

i like how they fib a bit with Ebert's review, making it appear he gave the movie 4 stars. only the faint little "1/2" in the middle of the last star tells the truth. how sneaky of them.

This is so becoming the year of DVD!

so many releases I was beginning to think may never happen ... wizards, quantum leap, star wars, crossroads, seinfeld, sledge hammer... I am running out of things to wish for

Excellent! Too bad it won't have any extras. I'd love a brief interview or commetary with Ry Cooder and Steve Vai to talk about the duel at the end.

What's up with Columbia Tri-Star's high MSRP's? At least It Happened One Night is available at Columbia House but the cheapest price I can find for Lady from Shanghai is $19.xx
