That answer your question?

Now that is what you get for shopping at Amazon.com & Suncoast.

According to my DVD Profiler, the average suggested retail price of my entire collection amounts to $4,738.42 for 126 DVDs. My average cost of said collection: $638.59. I'd say I know how to get things cheap, and, yep, that includes using Columbia House. I do not like to pay more than $10 per DVD.

A good price for the ones I want. I may pay full price (never do) if I want something.

I usually wait for price drops and good deals. I would say for a regular old movie - excluding Criterion and other pricy Deluxe stuff like BHD 3 disc my average is below 10.

I like getting a god deal, but I am not obsessed with it to the point some here are.

You might want to check out the Clubs Forum here at DVDTalk and then determine if those deals are so stupid. A lot of us are paying about $7 per DVD, including new releases.

Yeah, no kidding. That's where the bulk of my collection comes from. In terms of a monthly break down of DVDs... a year ago I would say about $300-$400/month on DVDs, but now that I'm buying a new car (MINI Cooper S :D ), my spending habits have dropped to about $100/month on DVDs.

I probably spend around $1500/year on DVDs.

ArchibaldTuttle 06-01-04 11:45 AM

roughly 50 dvds in the last 24 months, probably about $20-25 a month

My DVD Profiler indicates that the average cost of a DVD in my collection is $16.45. Typically DVD's I purchase are between $9.99 and $14.95. However, I will pay the piper for items I simply must have.

I pay under $10 for most of my dvds except for tv sets, miniseries, and a few select items (Criterions for example)

I would not trust the DVDProfiler number!

Mine says that my average DVD price is $19.00, but when I export it to Excel, my average is $14.51. I'm not quite sure where the disconnect is, but I wouldn't trust it.

I'm pretty happy with the $14.51/Title. This includes alll the X-files sets, all the ST:TNG, ST: DS9, Twilight Zone, Stargate SG-1, Sopranos, etc......

It used to be pretty easy to average about $10 from Columbia House, but there prices are about $11-$12 on average now.

On you guys' Excel spreadsheets... do you just use them for generating an average price and keeping track of how much you spend on DVDs, or other organizational purposes? Just curious..

I use them for keeping track of what DVD's I watched. It's a little hard to do on any of the tracking programs, so I just export DVD Profiler to excel and I have the DVD's I watched Highlighted.

It is also VERY useful to keep track of what movies my girlfriend would be willing to watch. I made her go through all of my dvd's one night and tell me which ones whe wanted to watch. Now, when we want to watch a movie together, I can go to the excel spreadsheet and filter on the movies she wants to watch. It's a lot less hassle than wading through all of the DVD's until we find one.

I spend anywhere between $80-100 a week on DVDS...lol

Been buying DVD's since mid 1997, and until last year was able to remain under $8.00 Average Price Paid. Darn TV series screwed up the average disc cost, as a 24 Season 1 has six discs, but is only count as one on my tracker. Here's where I stand now:

DVDs Owned (1018)

Total Paid: $11,216.22
Total Retail: $27,960.91
Average Price Paid: $11.02
Savings Over Retail: $16,795.66 - 60%

And yes, I have kept up with all my purchase prices since 1998 using Excel or DVDtracker.
