LOTR-EEs vs 9/21 Star Wars DVDs

DVD Talk Limited Edition
While watching one of the ROTK extras yesterday, someone said (not sure if it was PJ or someone else) that 'These films are no longer ours, and belong to the audience', or something along those lines. I looked to my wife and said, "Damn, I wish Lucas would realize that.."
I have no problems with Lucas releasing 'his' visions of the OT, but I would really enjoy it if the unaltered versions showed up on dvd at some point. I'll buy the new one anyways, but he could get me on a double-dip, no problem.

keep telling yourself that, LOTR gave Lucas many of his ideas for SW.
This is such a stupid thread.

I'd wager that if both versions of the SW trilogy were made available, the majority of people out there would watch the SE's more than the originals simply for the higher quality. I personally don't care THAT much about it. I'd like to own the originals but I'm not one of the "Lucas raped my childhood" people. I think they should be released in their original form because they are a piece of cinematic history and should be preserved as such.

This is trash and any poster who uses these types of arguments completely invalidates their opinions, IMHO. I will assume this was sarcasm.
its an in-joke at this point (that everybody should be 'in' on).
i don't see how anyone can deny a difference in attitude between the two men though.
i saw Jackson being interviewed for an hour on Charlie Rose, and when the subject of the DVDs came up, he was pretty up front that the EEs were not something that he needed to go to the trouble of doing for himself, they were for the fans.
i don't have a problem with anyone liking Lucas and his products, but c'mon- there is a gulf of difference here between the way one views and serves his audience and the way the other does.
its a little like having a meal in a resturant where the food is really tasty, but the servers are real pricks. having to put up with that kind of attitude makes the meal a lot less pleasant than it should otherwise be.
"you can have it baked or fried, we're going to be cleaning the grill soon."
"would it be possible for you to hold off on cleaning the grill for about 10 minutes? we've heard great things about the grilled salmon here and made a special trip..."
"no, baked or fried- take it or leave it"
