I am interested in buying this set. I have not seen any reviews yet. Is this worth buying?

Do you have the War and Rememberence sets?

Why, are they somehow linked? I know Robert Mitchum headlines all three. I am thinking of purchasing Winds of War, but I'd likely grab War and Remembrance Volume 1 and 2 first if the Winds of War is a continuation of those miniseries.

The Winds of War is the prequel to War and Remembrance. Arguably, it was a better book and a better miniseries.

Are they heavily linked (ie, LOTR, Matrix) where you need to see each story in the proper order (Winds of War before War and Remembrance), or loosely linked via common characters/themes (ie, Ghostbusters, Mission Impossible)?

Not to mention, a better value. The distributor broke War and Remembrance into two sets and charged an outrageous price for both. Winds of War is far more reasonable.

I have to agree with you on that breaking down War and Remembrance down into two sets was a major turn off for me as well as the price they charged for each. I remember watching the Winds of War on the Hallmark Channel a few years ago and was very impressed now all that remains is to get a good price for it.

That's because War & Rememberance is twice as long as The Winds Of War.

Still, each W&R set was priced higher than the WoW set. I'd like to see a re-release or a price reduction on W&R now that WoW is out and more cheaply priced.

I certainly recommend WoW. I remember first watching it when I was 12 or 13. Got the box set the other day - I'm in the middle of episode 2.

You should definitely watch WoW before W&R.

Kind of weird to think back to how the networks, particularly ABC, did these epic miniseries. No way they would do these today (2-parters at most).

Well yeah, considering that Wind of War deals with the lead up and includes the attack on Pearl Harbor, and that the War and Remembrance series picks up after Pearl Harbor and continues through-out the war.

Off topic, but I wish someone would release the cold war thriller AMERIKA with Sam Neill, Robert Urich and Kris Kristofferson.

Has anyone had problems with the second "War and Remembrance" box set. I've had to return 2 sets because of breakup & freezing problems on the same disc. (Yes I cleaned them & tried a second player)

I received my shipment today. The individual discs are in those super slim keepcases, double damn & triple damnation!!!!!!!!! I guess I'll have to design my own 7 disc keepcase cover.

That's my favorite type of box set packaging.

I agree about the slimcases being great packaging. I will eventually pick up The Winds Of War. They don't make miniseries like this anymore.

I Love those Big Fat Alpha type keepcases!!!! I may be the only one on several Discussion Boards who says he likes them, but I continue to see that InetDVD is selling them, so someone is buying them other than me!

FYI for those looking the W&R DVDs cheap - I just won an auction on ebay for $70 incl shipping for both sets of W&R new.

I picked up W&R from Deep Discount DVD when they were having their Christmas sale and I think it came in around $100 per set.
