Who wants to see R1 pic of Star Trek S1 box?

I didn't see any other threads about this, and I was sure you guys wanted to know that Paramount made the pics available...finally!

ST:TOS - S1 package shot.

Yep, it's the same as R2 in the end. Oh, well. Looks like it might release in August!

So is there a normal case in there we can put on our shelves?

Novelty cases are cool and all, but I don't like spending the extra $$$$ for it, and I usally end up removing the DVDs and putting them in my closet.

I HATE it when they do that. What is wrong with sticking to some kind of standard? Not only would I rather not have to find a special place for these funky boxes, I don't want to pay a higher price for the set because of them.

I really do hope that there is a normal case in there I believe I would have a hard time placing that big box along with my other dvd's JMO that keep case box looks like crap! It kinda makes me wonder
what the hell is Paramount thinking when they do stuff like this.

i saw those pics of the other region and was saying this is one time i will be happy to get a different case in region 1, but it looks to be the same case everywhere. I like others hope there is a normal case inside to put on the shelf. I have my big head galactica case in the closet.

Dammit Jim, I'm a lunchbox, not a DVD case.

Ugly does not even begin to describe that thing.

If they wanted to be creative, they should've put it in an over-sized communicator and allow you to open the screen to remove a typical DVD-sized multi-set.

A Tricorder would have worked, too!

I guess they put this in a yellow plastic shell to keep the fans from getting overly excited and ruining the packaging when they see this on DVD ;->

I'm guessing that the season 2 & 3 cases will be blue and red.

And posters on the International DVD forum wonder why we don't get more creative packaging here. Perhaps it's because studios don't want to hear all the complaining when they do try to do something innovative!

Yes, but the red case will be shot shortly after you get it home.

I couldn't care less about the packaging. Most of my dvds are put away, not in open view. Bring it on.

Save the innovation for the DVDs and not for the packaging. I'd gladly pay extra for more content, not for window dressing.

Yep, me too. But I've always preferred simple packaging and steered clear of gimmick packages when possible. This is what we get when people fall all over themselves to get these oddball packages.
