some Jersey Girl dvd info

Maybe its just me, but how exactly is Miramax rushing things? Jersey Girl came out in March. If the DVD is in late August, that's still 5 months and easily within the typical release window. And as stated it could easily be longer. And it's not like no one knew a DVD would come. One could easily plan for the DVD while filming, even if an extended edition is wanted. Anyone think about clearing the rights for this stuff earlier? They may want to release two versions, but it seems incorrect to blame Miramax. They're doing nothing different than virtually any other studio would do.

This one doesn't make sense, as it doesn't show the little girl, hence, what/who is Affleck looking at and why does he have that look on his face?
Maybe the original one sheet, but a head shot of Liv at the bottom?

Thank you, Guesswho.
That ridiculous cover with Biggs peeking over the top like Ziggy is the funniest thing I've ever seen. I for one am glad George Carlin wasn't the one disgraced like this. A man of his stature would be utterly humiliated.

Obviously, we all know Biskind's rep ... and both Affleck and Smith came out against the book when it came out, so grain-of-salt this ... but what the book says is that it was all set up to be another fairly low budget affair ($10-$15 range) starring Affleck, but that Affleck was so pissed at Weinstein who, he felt, would often play friendships off of each other in order to make bigger profits off of it, that he said to Kevin, essentially, "I'll do this movie, but I need you to stay out of the negotiating."
Eventually, he came back with something like 10 or 12 mil and a percentage of the gross ... at which point, the entire movie became a bigger deal, several other salaries were bumped, etc. [Nothing is said of this one way or another, but I'd assume that Vilmos Zsigmond was hired to shoot it after the movie made this jump.]
People may criticize him for this, but don't forget: it would've been a lot easier for Miramax to bury and ignore a 10-15 million movie than a $35 mil ... at a certain point, they might've opted to just cut their losses and shelve it for a year or two. Probably not, since they have a relationship with Smith, but it's possible.
For whatever it's worth, on his website, Kevin said something along the lines of "We were going to do it on the cheap, but then Scott Mosier [producer] and Affleck convinced me that a bigger budget could help the movie, and there was no reason to scrape it by if we didn't have to." I'm wording that terribly, but you get the idea.

I hope a friend picks this up because I've been curious how the final cut compared to the cut I saw a year ago. I won't buy it and I don't rent.... so I might be SOL.
But I'm happy for the fans this film found. Kevin usually packs the DVD releases with all kinds of stuff.... usually butt-loads of deleted scenes. Yeah, the cover isn't the greatest but it seems to fit the film (as I would imagine)

UPDATE:
There are TWO commentary tracks: one track is me, Mosier, and Jason Mewes (playing the role of the average audience member), and the other track is just me and Ben.
It also comes with a pair of "Behind-the-scenes" shorts, as well as five "Roadside Attractions."
