Is "Fargo SE" worth it?

I stumbled upon this DVD while shopping and read the features on the back of the cover. I might get it anyway because I love the Coens movies but I just wanted to hear from people who have seen it or bought it.

Thanks!

Excellent excellent movie. The film acts like a drama but has alot of dark humor throw in the mix. The acting is superb and the story never lags. Also the cinemetography is breathtaking, and fortunately the transfer does this movie justice. Very clean, highly detailed anamorphic transfer and a DD 5.1 track that is quite solid. The extras are very informative as well. I would definately recommend this film!

I see that you own the first release so do yourself a favor and pick up the new one. The Minnesota Nice documentary is great. Definitely worth the upgrade.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but I read somewhere about some defective? Fargo SE DVDs, is there any problems with the DVD that anyone has heard about or experienced.

The SE replaces the burned-in subtitles with player-generated ones that appear on the wrong part of the screen with some DVD players, and the opening "This is based on a true story ... " text doesn't appear at all on some players.

I bought it semi-blind a month ago, it's great. Walmart had it for 17 with the cool slip. It has nice features and its a great movie. The transfer rocks as well.

It's a great film, but if you already own it on DVD I don't know if the extras are worth the upgrade unless you're a BIG fan of the film.

Can anyone tell me how long these two extras are?

Documentary: 'Minnesota Nice' - featuring cast & crew interviews

Interview with the Coen brothers

Thanks

Thanks a lot. Would you say it is worth upgrading from the first release? Is the Audio/Video improved?

I never had the first release so I can't compare. I had the old VHS that came with the cool snowglobe that recreated the cover

I would imagine the decision on upgrading would be based on the extras. Maybe you could eBay the old copy to offset the purchase.

I think it is worth the upgrade for the video quality. I think the audio is identical to my old disc. but the video was definitely better on a large monitor. Plus I thought the Minnesota Nice featurette was great. Worth the upgrade IMO.
