I'm curious if any DVD release will ever feature the full 4 1/2 hour documentary that was on the SE laserdisc. I'm a bit doubtful about that happening any time soon. (for example, Universal's DVD of Jaws had a condensed version of the orginal LD documentary)

I've been constantly emailing universal and hopefully with the release of KING KONG next year, they can cross promote a brand new 3 Disc SE of Frighteners with it...

this movie wasnt that popular. sure its one of my favorites, but it wouldnt be cost worthy for universal to put out a 3 disc set. I doubt you will ever see a SE. If you do it wont have the 4 hr documentary on it. I bet you will see this set on the new Blue ray format though and they will put it all on 1 disc.

Why wouldn't they release this? They don't have to spend any money on producing the material, and Peter Jackson is HUGE right now.
Universal is just run by a bunch of morons. That's the only reason I can figure why they haven't released this yet.

I love this movie too. This is one I would double dip on. I just don't think it would be that big of a film to release again. I didn't even know this was a Peter Jackson film until I read it here.

This is my most wanted DVD ever. I would give anything to have this. I can't believe that they are releasing it because as everyone else said....the ties to Jackson would sure help sell this one even if it is a very odd, but fun, movie.

Definately one of my favorite movies. It's definately underrated, I think its a great movie. I've never seen the 4 hour documentary so I hope they do something with a new SE to get that on there. But again, even with Peter Jackson's fame with LOTR, I doubt interest will be hightened in his non LOTR stuff, because of the kind of movies all of them are.

Actually it isn't really a 4 hr documentary. A hour of it are story board comparisions. I would be more interested in just getting the directors cut of the film because the cuts the made on the movie are helerious.
