new version of "Destroy All Monsters" dissapointing
I guess the title of this thread says it all...but I'll give ya'll the specifics, anyhow.
I have waited for a good quality release of this movie on DVD since DVD came out. I'd prefer the AIP (American International Pictures) audio dub, if it's dubbed at all. The audio on this "new" ADV Films release, though, is the standard crap version released a few years ago by them.
In fact EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE LABEL is the same as before, EVEN the weirdness of not having any chapter stops during the film!!!
NO extras at all!! NOT EVEN A **#%& INSERT, DAMMIT!!!!!!
The only nice touch is that you get the OST on a seperate CD in the keepcase with the DVD. But even that is quite repetitive (which, I guess, says more about the OST than their production values, but you get my drift).
The only good thing about it was the price; $12.99 at Best Buy (after I was overcharged [14.99] when I went through the line. A quick trip to the service desk fixed that sh*t up, though).
If you've already got this on the old DVD, and can live without the soundtrack, skip it.

Yeah, I really wasn't expecting the new DVD to be any different compared to the first one (but adding chapter stops would have been nice, sheesh!). But, thanks for the confirmation.
The original AIP English dub appearing on any DVD will be very unlikely to ever happen due to rights issues. Too bad, I prefer that dub too (the one most of us grew up with).

Apparently, the soundtrack was previously released by ADV last year (info here) . Surprised that I missed it, being absolutely insane about all things kaiju. Looks like a trip to my local cd shop is in order... Too bad about the dvd, though.

While I imagine that ADV had little hope of getting an anamorphic print of DAM from Toho, the least they could have done was announce that this was simply a repackaging. Hiding the fact that this was the same old crappy version they released before is a bit underhanded, IMO. Incidentally, they also released the soundtracks to the three 90s Mothra films in the same batch as the DAM CD, for those interested.
