Thanks for the replies guys
I'm definitely going to check out the Ultimate Toy Box if I can find it for a decent price, I used to love Toy Story back when I was like 8... It's anywhere from $90-$200 on amazon but there's a few copies on ebay it looks like. Gonna check out the Seven Samurai CC too, I'm going to look around at a few used DVD stores around here to see if I can't get lucky and find one of the first printings

For the Ultimate Toy Box, check your local Best Buy too.
I've seen people pay crazy prices for it on the open market - but because of a high MSRP (65ish?), it apparently often sits.
Not sure if this is still true, but I'd still want to glance locally, if possible.

yup. The average viewer will see a sick twisted film. The select few will see a beautiful film that deals with insanity and inhumane establishment in WWII time.

The "insanity and inhumane establishment in WWII time" was accomplished in the first 30 minutes of the film.
So what was the point of the last 90 minutes of the film?

Thanks.

There are many versions of The Killer (so is Hard Boiled) but if you go region free you do have more options. If not, there're a couple region 0 releases out there that's not OOP.

By all means, if you're a Hitchcock fan, pick up the Notorious, Rebecca and Spellbound CCs... Great films, great DVDs, solid transfers, highly doubtful that the extras material will port over to the future as-yet-to-be-announced MGM releases.
On Silence... The Criterion has a nice commentary track, etc, but the MGM version has the better transfer... Assuming you don't have a HDTV now, one day you will and that CC won't be getting a lot of rotation in the player (unless you have a top notch scaling machine like the Panny RP-91). It's non-anamorphic. It might be "collectible" but as a DVD, it's not that impressive IMHO (there's a reason that you see so many available). That said, if you're a BIG fan of the film, you might want both versions.
Ultimate Toy Box and Fantasia Anthology are great and OOP. But with the house of mouse, there will be another release of those films down the line... Don't spend TOO much tracking them down.
Here's a few other "rare must have DVDs" that I own... (the must have really depends on YOU, no?)
Dances With Wolves DTS... Not all THAT rare, but it is OOP, anamorphic, has the full bitrate DTS track that's not available on any of the other releases and is the theatrical cut, not the extended version.
Dead Ringers CC... OOP, some nifty extras, but it's non-anamorphic. Not sure which studio has the rights now for a future release, but fingers crossed on a nice new anamorphic transfer. You may or may not like the film though... I love it, but it's not for all.
Ed Wood SE... Beware the bootlegs. At this point, unless it was factory sealed with the Buena Vista stamp, I would just wait for the future re-re-release... It's coming... Some day...
Repo Man Limited Edition Tin... Again, not THAT rare yet but you may or may not like the film...
The Wicker Man Limited Edition... It's technically OOP but it's widely, widely available... For now. Great packaging, love the box, another may or may not like it title.
Sid & Nancy CC... I'm a Pistols fan, so I held on to this one for the excellent extras. Picked up the MGM version though for when I want to spin it... The CC is non-anamorphic.

I find that a lot of what is going on right now in today's time...somewhat in the same eye as what Pasolini was trying to tell everyone back in 1975. Truly horrifying.

I looked the other day at eBay, and there was about a dozen of the Toy Boxes for trade...all of which were bootlegs...every last one of them!

In general, don't by any OOP titles from sellers in Asian countries, as they're most likely fakes.

Of the ones I have:
The Ultimate Toy Box
Silence of the Lambs: CC
Sid & Nancy:CC
The OOP Hitchcock Criterions
and
Ed Wood:SE
are well worth having--great films with unique special features, which probably won't appear on any subsequent releases.
