Simple question; what is the matrix in Se7en?

I am planning to enlarge my DVD collection (still only 6 dvds) by purchasing 2-disc Se7en. However the summary over at dvdcompare.net really confuses me, it notes that ¡°2-disc set. DTS ES 6.1 could be "matrix"." for Region 4. What is the matrix?

the rear centre channel is calculated from the left and right rear channels, so the 6th channel is not a real channel

I got 5 speakers. In this case the note only concerns for 6 speakers users and doesn¡¯t matter to me since I only got 5. Am I right on this?

Unfortunately, nobody can be told what the matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.

Oh. Well. Never mind then.

I was expecting this to be about a new combo sequel, à la "Alien vs. Predator" where Morgan Freeman coaches Keanu Reeves on how to act.

"The world is a terrible place, and is worth saving. I agree with the first part."

"Whoa!"

Heh. I thought about that pairing when I posted.

Actually, there's already a sequel to "Se7en" in the works:

Ei8ht (imdb)

I always thought "Matrix" was calculated by your reciever. It's when you have a 6.1 DVD, but you only have a 5.1 channel reciever. The reciever can decode the 6.1, but since you only have 5 speakers, the "rear center" channel is spread evenly and injected into the rear left/right channels.

This is how my Yamaha reciever does business.
