Love the cover!!
|
That art work doesn't do much for me. Struzan's drawing looks looks more at home in Reader's Digest or something (and I mean that in a good sense). As for the other ones -- what're they marketing, Corona? That scenery was only a minor, but important part of the film's climax, yet makes it's totally out of context.
|
So is this something official or is it fan-work?
|
The struzan one is a great piece of artwork. Just not right for a dvd cover. It would make a great insert though.
As for the other one with the slip cover. :yack: |
Wonderful work but it doesnĄ¯t present the film as a whole. The significance of Pacific Ocean is not given until the very end. It ruins the starting or core atmosphere of the film: imprisonment, boundaries & corruption. It feels more like Cast Away. :D

I think the coverart is brilliant -- the movie is already one of my favorites, so I definitely won't mind double-dipping on this release.
|
I really don't like either cover either. Neither conveys the feeling or the mood of the movie.
|
I have to agree that those covers are so damn wrong for the movie.
|
I still have never seen this movie and have been waiting anxiously for this release.

Why are the covers watermarked with "www.mov8.com"? What sort of site is it?
|
What's the release date for the R2 release? Any more info on the extra features?
|
Makes me want to go home and crack open a Corona.
The R2 cover reminds me of the commercials with the guys that throw their cell phones in the ocean. |

Nice cover art, but not for this movie. Seriously, it totally sets the wrong tone.
As for the original movie poster with Robbins' arms up in the air, the problem with that was that it was so ambiuous. Combine that art with the title, and you still have no freakin' idea what the movie is about. I only went to see it after it was nominated for an Acadamy Award, but even as I was buying the movie ticket, I still had no clue what the movie was about. However, in the end, it was on my list as one of my top 10 movies ever. |

Let's hope its for DVD package... although it might just be for an insert. Also reported on The Digital Bits. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articl...hankdvdart.jpg |
This artwork rocks...and yes, I agree, Tim Robbins looks good behind bars.

The R2 cover is 100% fake (pretty obvious, actually). Go to the bottom of the following page for specifics:

Thanks for clearing that up.
Also, I have to agree with the Corona comment. That was the first thing I thought of as well  |
